What happens when an artist crosses the line? And how do we know which lines are worth crossing?

Throughout history, artists, Fools, clowns, mystics and performers have stepped into forbidden territory - sometimes opening extraordinary new possibilities, sometimes getting themselves into spectacular trouble.

TABOO - art at the edge is a two-hour interactive online workshop with high-wire artist and circus- maker Chris Bullzini exploring our relationship with taboo, risk and the boundaries around creative expression.

Drawing on more than 20 years of performance - including some of my own successes, failures and occasional adventures into territory that probably seemed like a good idea at the time - we'll explore what taboo actually is, why societies create it, and why artists are so often drawn towards its edges.

Most importantly, this isn't just a talk. Through discussion and practical creative exploration, you'll be invited to look at the edges in your own practice:

What are you frightened to make?

What are you frightened to say?

Which boundaries protect something important - and which might be asking to be questioned?

You don't need to be a circus artist or professional performer. Writers, visual artists, musicians, dancers, makers, clowns, activists, curious humans and creative troublemakers are all welcome.

Boulder questions. Brave art. A more honest creative life.
