An evening of real talk, new friends & wild tales.

We're excited to bring the Psychedelic Society to Central Portugal for our very first community social!

Whether you're new to the area, looking for like-minded people, or simply curious about all things psychedelic, this is an invitation to come together, make new connections and help grow a community here in Portugal.

And as this is our first gathering in Portugal, we'd love to hear your ideas about what you'd like to see happening here in the future.

A note on language 

This event will be facilitated in English, but Portuguese conversation prompts can be provided. Portuguese speakers are very welcome, and we hope to create a space where connections can happen across languages.

Come drop the mask and dive into something a little more real.

Join us for a night of Psychedelic Speed-Friending, where curiosity, courage and connection take centre stage. We’ll gently guide you through playful ice-breakers and juicy conversation prompts designed to help you meet new people in meaningful ways. Think slow, soul-nourishing conversations rather than frantic networking. Expect short but impactful heart-to-hearts in pairs and trios. Plus plenty of time to flow freely with whoever you vibe with most.

Once the room’s warmed up and hearts are open, we shift into Psychedelic Storytelling, our beloved open mic session where you get the chance to take the stage. Share your story, whether it’s strange, tender, funny, or downright mystical. There’s no need to be polished or profound, just honest. Stories are 5 minutes max, and you can sign up on the night. 

A Beautiful Psychedelic Community: Get access to our wonderful community coalescing around all things fungi. Many people at our socials have become life-long friends. Most of our members come alone, this is a safe and welcoming space for everyone, no matter your age, sexuality, background, gender, ethnicity or nationality. Fungi  know no boundaries, which is the ethos we bring to our socials.

OUR TEAM

Freesia Basset

With a background in community arts, youth work and festival production, Freesia likes to bring people together in imaginative and authentic ways, especially those often overlooked or excluded from mainstream spaces.

She developed The Psychedelic Society’s gatherings in Hastings, celebrating the town’s creative spirit while opening new conversations about consciousness and community. Freesia also lead SisterWood, a nature-based programme for girls, and explores consciousness through Reiki and sound practice, weaving together art, nature and embodied awareness.

Psychedelics have been among her greatest teachers, informing her inquiry into connection with nature and self, and how we might honour the lineages that hold these understandings. She is studying for an MSc in Mind, Medicine & Culture: Psychedelics at the University of Exeter, examining how altered states of consciousness shape creativity, connection and collective understanding. She’s passionate about collaboration, open dialogue and shared learning.

ACCESS:  We do our best to include everyone in our events, regardless of health circumstances. If you have access requirements please email the event organiser directly to discuss. Many facilitators are able to offer reduced ticket prices for those truly unable to afford the ticket price. If this applies to you, do please get in touch with the event organiser.
