Ecstatic Dance events held in central Bristol on Saturday evenings and Sunday mornings every month.

Our intention is to provide an inclusive and sacred dance space that welcomes people of all backgrounds and dancing experience aged 18+.

We invite you to come and join us in sober community and express yourself in this wonderful growing movement practice.

Free parking is available outside the venue

🕺🏽WHAT TO EXPECT:

• 10:00am - Arrive to warm-up music with optional smudging (sage or palo santo) to cleanse and set an intention for a the dance ahead
• 10:10am - Opening CIrcle
• 10:20am - 90 min Ecstatic Dance journey by Josh Silver with guidelines and facilitated embodiment
• 10:30am - Doors close
• 11:50am - 30 min Crystal Singing Bowl Sound Bath with Kate @i.know.this.girl
• 12:20pm - Closing circle
• 12:30pm - Finish (Please feel free to socialise with others whilst we pack up)

💃🏻 WHAT IS ECSTATIC DANCE?

Ecstatic Dance is an embodied practice which invites us to connect with ourselves and explore our individuality through free movement. When we allow ourselves to drop into spontaneous movement, we find we can become more aligned with our energy, emotions and spirit.

There’s no right or wrong way to move here. No planned steps. This is a held space to express what’s alive in you, to move how you feel and welcome self discovery.

Many people attend Ecstatic Dance to unwind, release tension, heal, connect with others and be in community. Others come to rest and simply be. This practice is all about listening to the body.

🥣 WHAT IS A SOUND BATH?

After the dance, it’s time to soften, settle, and sink into stillness. Drift into a 30-minute Crystal Singing Bowl Sound Bath, a deeply restorative experience designed to help you find stillness, reflect, integrate, and gently rebalance.

Lie back and let the soothing vibrations of quartz crystal singing bowls, crystal pyramids, and chimes wash over you, releasing tension and restoring harmony to your mind and body. No experience is needed — just bring a yoga mat, cushion or pillow, blankets and warm socks, and an optional eye mask to fully surrender to the experience.

GUIDELINES:

😇 Sober: Ecstatic Dance is a drug and alcohol free mindfulness practice

🦶Barefeet: We invite dancers to dance barefoot as it helps us to connect with the ground or with gripped socks/specialised dance shoes

🙊 No chit-chat: Words take us back into our heads! Please join us for the tea social after the dance if you’d like to chat with others

📵 No tech: We encourage dancers to be present. If you need to use your phone, please do so outside

👕 Stay dressed: Tops and bottoms on for all genders please

😷 No fragrances: Please refrain from wearing any strong fragrances when attending as some dancers may be sensitive/allergic

💖 Consent: Please be mindful and respectful of the personal space / physical boundaries of other dancers in the room. Dancers take full responsibility for communicating their boundaries and expressing their yes’s and no’s in the shared dance space. If you’re unsure it’s a yes, it’s a no!

MEET YOUR SPACEHOLDERS:

DJ & FACILITATOR - JOSH SILVER

Josh Silver is a DJ, facilitator, and co-founder of Ecstatic Dance Somerset. He is passionate about bringing dance to the collective as a form of healing, believing deeply in the transformative power of movement and music. Josh creates sacred, open, grounding, and joyful dance spaces where participants of all levels feel safe to explore and express themselves.

A double graduate of the “Dance the Medicine” school, Josh is also trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS), blending conscious movement with psychological insight to welcome all parts of ourselves into the dance.

Josh has played at events across the UK since 2021, including Dancing the Elements (Bristol), ED UK, ED Bath, ED Brighton, and Rave OM Cornwall, and holds residencies at ED Norwich, ED Twickenham and the UK’s first Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) retreat in Devon. With over two decades of DJ experience, from spinning rave vinyl to curated sound journeys, Josh creates immersive, heart-opening sets across an eclectic mix of genres.

Kate Stewart is the founder of I Know This Girl — a sound practitioner and wellness entrepreneur who brings deep intention, care, and integrity to her work. With over a decade of experience in sound healing, she has been offering events, retreats, and a bespoke range of sound healing products through her business for the past five years.

Kate’s sound baths are gently held, intuitive experiences designed to help people feel safe, relaxed, and supported. With a calm, nurturing presence and a deep respect for each individual’s journey, she creates spaces where guests are invited to soften, rest, and reconnect — exactly as they are.

We sometimes take photos and short videos at our events (announced in the opening circle). If you do not wish to be photographed let us know and we will respect your wishes.

👜 PERSONAL BELONGINGS:

Dancers agree to take full responsibility for their belongings when entering and leaving the dance space. We are not liable for any missing personal belongings.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is there parking at the venue?

Parking is available outside the venue. When you arrive at St Michael's Parish Hall after driving up the hill you'll see some open gates to your right. The main car park is just beyond there through the children’s playground.

What is the latest arrival time?

We close the doors at 10:30am but we would like to ask attendees to arrive by 10am if possible to enable a "safe container" for all to drop deeper into the dance. 

What is your refunds policy?

Refunds are not offered, however if you are unable to make it, you may contact with at least 48 hours notice to request a ticket transfer to a future date. You can email us: ecstaticdancesomerset@gmail.com

Are children allowed?

No. This event is for 18+ adults only. 

Can I volunteer at your event?

Please email us: ecstaticdancesomerset@gmail.com to request a volunteer place in exchange for a free dance. 

Can I pay at the door?

Yes, a limited number of tickets are available at the door for £15 (concession) and £20.00 (standard) via cash / contactless payment. However, we recommend booking in advance in case the event sells out.
