Autumn One-Day Workshop: DROP THE ACT
An immersive, experiential day exploring connection, self-expression and creativity - and what happens when we begin to loosen the roles and patterns that can get in the way of expressing who we really are.
Drawing on my background as an actor, public-speaking coach, leadership facilitator and somatic therapist, we'll explore authentic expression through movement, voice, creativity and speaking from the heart.
We'll work with assertiveness and confidence, creating space to use your voice without apology, over-performance or bravado. The workshop is called DROP THE ACT because we'll be exploring what makes us lose touch with our authentic expression, and experimenting with what becomes possible when we peel back some of those layers in a supportive and playful environment.
The day is highly experiential. We'll use group exercises, movement, voice, poetry, text and play to explore confidence, connection and authentic expression.
The workshop is open to anyone aged 21+, regardless of profession, background or level of experience. You don't need to be an actor, performer or public speaker.
It may particularly resonate if:
- You’re successful, capable or outwardly confident, but sometimes feel like you're performing your way through life.
- You notice yourself adapting depending on who you're with.
- You're highly attuned to other people, but sometimes struggle to know what you actually want.
- You find yourself playing a particular role — the good one, the capable one, the funny one, the strong one, the successful one, the easy-going one.
- You're curious about what might be underneath those patterns.
- You'd like to express yourself more freely, whether in relationships, work, leadership or your creative life.
- You'd like to be more visible, but notice something in you holding back.
- You want more spontaneity, creativity and play.
- You're interested in exploring yourself through the body and experience, rather than simply talking about yourself.
- You're willing to experiment, be witnessed and step a little outside your usual way of being.
This isn't therapy, but we will go deep.
Places are limited and a short application is required when booking.
Venue and arrival time
We'll be hanging out in the gorgeous Co-Working Devon, in Buckfastleigh. More information on how to find this venue will be shared upon booking.
Please arrive 30-15mins early so we can start on time at 9.30am. Any significantly late arrivals may not be admitted due to the importance of setting group context before heading into the play.

I understand that plans can change. If you need to cancel your place, please let me know as soon as possible.
Cancellations made more than 30 days before the workshop will receive a full refund.
Cancellations made between 14 and 30 days before the workshop will receive a 50% refund.
Unfortunately, cancellations made less than 14 days before the workshop are non-refundable, unless I am able to fill your place. If I am able to do so, I will refund your payment in full.
If you are unable to attend, you are welcome to transfer your place to someone else, provided you let me know in advance.
If I need to cancel the workshop for any reason, you will receive a full refund.
Thank you for understanding that, as places are limited, late cancellations can make it difficult to offer the place to someone else.
Hebe Dickins | Hebe’s background is in the theatre, as an actor. She now has a somatic therapy and coaching practice; co-facilitates creative leadership programmes, all over the world; and coaches business leaders to be authentic, confident presenters. Her raison d'etre is to help people connect to themselves and others; through embodiment, authentic performance and play. She feels there's a need for there to be more spaces where healing and having fun can come hand in hand.
