Lets keep walking through the winter together! This is part of a series of seasonal nordic walks being offered in and around Frome by Geors Richards, a qualified nordic walking instructor, mountain leader and first aider.

This walk will be approximately 8.5km/ 5.3 mile walk starting and finishing from the Cheese and Grain. A circular route will be followed reaching Orchardleigh park and then returning. A relaxed pace will be taken and no one will be left behind! The walk will include beautiful Somerset views, a mix of woodland, river and open land with minimal road walking. A tranquil lake and Church are key highlights.

This walk is for people who have done a nordic walking beginners workshop with me and are comfortable walking a distance of up to 8km including some hills, uneven ground and styles. While this is a social walk without structured teaching, I will be happy to provide tips on your nordic walking technique during the walk if you like.

Please bring with you:

-Comfortable layered clothing and a jacket in case of wet weather

-Flexible soled shoes, walking shoes or trainers, ideally water resistant in case the ground is wet (we will be walking on the grass)

-Any medication you need

-Water and snacks if you like

All day parking is available in the Cheese and Grain car park. There is a cafe and toilets in the Cheese and Grain if needed before or after the walk.

Nordic Walking Events – Booking Terms and Conditions

1. Booking and payment

Your place is confirmed once your booking and payment have been received. Bookings are subject to availability and these terms and conditions.

Participants must provide accurate contact details and any information reasonably needed to help the organiser manage the event safely.

2. Cancellations and refunds

If you need to cancel your booking, please contact the organiser as soon as possible.

More than 7 days before the event: You may request a full refund or transfer your booking to another available event.
Between 48 hours and 7 days before the event: You may request a transfer to another available event at the organiser’s discretion.
Less than 48 hours before the event, or non-attendance: Refunds and transfers are not normally available.
If the organiser cancels an event and cannot offer a suitable alternative, you will receive a full refund of the booking fee.

3. Changes and adverse weather

Nordic walking takes place outdoors and events may be affected by weather, ground conditions, access restrictions or other circumstances beyond the organiser’s control.

The organiser may alter the route, duration, meeting arrangements or activities where reasonably necessary for safety or practical reasons.

If conditions make the event unsafe, the organiser may postpone or cancel it. Where the event is cancelled by the organiser, participants will be offered a suitable alternative date or a refund, as appropriate to the circumstances.

4. Fitness and health

Participants are responsible for deciding whether they are sufficiently fit and well to take part in the advertised activity.

Please inform the organiser before the event of any medical condition, injury, mobility limitation or other relevant circumstance that may affect your safe participation. You should seek medical advice if you are unsure whether Nordic walking is suitable for you. You must inform the instructor if you feel unwell or are unable to continue during the event.

5. Safety and participation

Participants must follow the instructor’s reasonable safety instructions and remain with the group unless the instructor agrees otherwise.

The organiser may decline or discontinue a participant’s involvement if their condition, equipment or behaviour creates a significant safety concern. Where possible, this will be discussed with the participant.

Participants should wear suitable outdoor clothing and footwear, bring water and carry any personal medication they may need. 

6. Outdoor activity and inherent risks

Nordic walking involves physical exercise and outdoor terrain. Risks may include uneven or slippery ground, changes in weather, trips, falls and other hazards associated with walking outdoors.

Participants acknowledge these inherent risks and agree to take reasonable care of their own safety and follow the instructor’s guidance.

7. Personal belongings

Participants are responsible for their own belongings and equipment throughout the event. The organiser accepts no responsibility for loss or damage except where legally liable.

8. Photography and publicity

Photographs or videos may occasionally be taken during events. Images identifiable as you will only be used for promotional purposes with your consent. You may tell the organiser if you do not wish to be photographed.

9. Personal information

Personal information supplied during booking will be used to administer your booking, communicate event information and manage safety. It will be handled in accordance with applicable data protection law and the organiser’s privacy notice.

11. Contact and complaints

If you have a question, need to make a change to your booking or wish to raise a concern, please contact the organiser using the details provided on the booking page.
