Storytelling & End of Season Feast

You are warmly invited to an end of season feast and storytelling evening for friends and families at New Futures Academy CIC on Sunday 18th October.

We are putting on the event as a thank you to everyone that has been involved with New Futures Academy CIC events this year - parents, helpers and of course participants in our activities, and as a celebration to mark the end of the years activities....

So, straight after the last forest crafts youth mentoring group of the season this year on October 18th, from 5pm, we are going to have a bit of a feast (well, some nice soup and bread and some tea and cake at least!), and then... we have an evening of storytelling with one of the South West's finest Storytellers, Olly Hurd-Thomas.....

Olly has put together a bespoke evening of storytelling for us:

A Change is Going to Come....

"We never know what the future may hold, so travel lightly and be ready to bend with the wind....An evening of story where we may meet the forces of change and transformation around and inside us!....Story come!!!"

Olly has been telling traditional stories for over 25 years, at festivals, events, at hearth and at home.

His performance background is varies, ranging from cabaret to improvised theatre to singer/songwriting. He is also a poet and illustrator. Olly believes in the power of story to wake us up, shake us down and to open our eyes and hearts...

The Storytelling event is suitable for ages 9+

Some details:

We are moving the usual times of the youth group session on this day forward an hour so they will be there from 11:00 am till 5:00 pm

We will then clear up and get the soup on and food on. Parents and participants from the day are welcome to stay, and anyone else is welcome to come and join us, with food available from 5:30 to 6:30. We will provide pumpkin soup and range of vegan and vegetarian accompaniments - simple fare. You are welcome to bring food to share too!

From 6:30 to 6:45 pm we'll set up seating and change gear for the storytelling, get some hot chocolate and tea brewed up and settle in for some story magic with Olly from around 6:45pm till 7:45 pm.

The event is free to anyone that has supported, attended or been involved with The New Futures Academy. Places are limited to 30 people - so booking is essential!

Please dress warmly for the evening as, weather permitting, the event will be held outside around the firepit area
