We invite you to spend the day with us, opening to, playing with and relating around healing energy. On this daylong we will explore the medium of healing within the context of our Buddhist practice. As a result, you will be able to learn the techniques of a formal self-healing practice. I ask that everyone commit to practicing self-healing for a period of 21 days on a daily basis following the retreat. Please bring a journal for note taking. We will learn the formal, Japanese symbols to initiate and sustain the energetic flow.

Most of us have experienced a health challenge in our lives or in the lives of loved ones. The Buddha designed the Four Noble Truths to align with the healing process itself. The healing process has not changed in 2,600 years. We still study epidemiology or the symptoms of disease (the first noble truth), etiology or the causes of disease (the second), and the treatments or pharmacology (the fourth). So the Four Noble Truths is relevant to our understanding of the healing process today.  Many of us love to recite the first line of the Dhammapada ("mind is the forerunner of all things"). To untangle this tangle of suffering, we seek to understand the mind's contribution to suffering.

This daylong will be dedicated to the energetic aspects of the Four Noble Truths of Healing. I have experienced dramatic healing events during the course of my meditation practice. Prior to my shifts in 2004 and 2005 I suffered from many ailments, including anxiety, runaway thoughts, depression, epilepsy, etc. In 2003, I received my first, effective meditation instructions from my teacher Venerables Aggasami and U Pandita and my Reiki transmissions from a Reiki Grand Master Elizabeth Harley. I actively pursued both Buddhist meditation and Reiki simultaneously and found the combination to produce immediate benefits. I invite you to explore the correlation between the two on this daylong.

Facilitator: Robert Rhyne

Dana: Please bring a vegetarian food dish to share with your fellow retreatants.

What else to bring: Please bring a water bottle, pen and journal, and shawls (because the energy can dramatically shift your subjective temperature settings).

Final details: We cannot accommodate people coming and going during the day. Please commit for the duration of the day. Upon successful completion at the end of the day, you can receive a diploma of completion for Reiki 1 and Reiki 2 levels, if you request it ahead of time.
