A ritual theatre of the soul for wanderers courting the muse.
Bears Cave is an emergent creative experience that combines embodiment, movement, somatics, meditation and ritual theatre. It is a space for aliveness, spontaneity and expression.
The Call
Bears Cave is a place of darkness, of hibernation, of rest and regeneration. It is a place of stillness where we go to listen to soul. To the animate life-force that moves through all things and each of us. It is the returning to the vessel of our bodies. To empty out and become available to the way that the world speaks through us. Will you enter the cave?
You close your eyes
to journey into the cave of yourself.
To the places where the darkness is luminous.
You meet what awaits you there.
Carrying the glimmers back to the day world.
You dance the encounters you receive
Letting soul move you
Offering up your vision on the altar of the muse.
We draw the circle and gather at the threshold
To cross is to surrender to souls song
The spontaneity of expression.
In circle you are both witness and performer.
Though to perform means to enact.
You enact your longing.
Encounters from the cave.
Existing for a moment in endless possibilities
of the never before seen.
The Invitation
This is a space for enacting (which is a kind of ritual performance) something that has never before been seen. It might be what is alive in you in that exact moment. Or perhaps there is something thats been gestating in you for a long time that needs to be witnessed.
The invitation is to allow yourself to step across the threshold into the circle and ritual theatre space with the possibility of not preparing a thing and being open to what wants to emerge in the moment.
Trusting that the expression that comes is exactly what needs to be expressed.
No prior experience is needed. You do not need to have a background in theatre or any kind of performance.
Disclaimer
This space is not meant for fixing, transforming, alchemising or changing anything. It is not personal development.
It is simply about stepping across the ritual threshold and allowing ourselves to be witnessed offering up our expression as a way to become more intimate with life.
This is an emergent experience and some of it is unplanned and responsive to what happens with the group.
There will be generative holding of the space and ritual protocol but the invitation is for those that enter Bears Cave to feel somewhat resourced in themselves. (If you have any questions about this you can email alana@truenature.org.uk)
What to Expect
Bears Cave welcomes the food of the muses in all it’s forms: poetry, voice, song, improvisation, butoh, clowning, mask work, movement & dance, archetypal exploration, the shadow, melodrama… and probably many not listed here.
There will be some landing & guiding that will take the shape of an imaginal journey and movement to prepare. Then we create the circle threshold and enter the ritual space together. At some point the ritual will end and close and there will be some time to decompress together.
This offering is on a pay-what-you-can scale to help cover the costs of the space.
Suggested sliding scale cost is £15 low income | £20 standard | £25 high income
