Trip Sitting with Julian Vayne

Book Launch for Julian Vayne’s “Trip Sitting”

Learn the Art and Science of Holding Psychedelic Space

About The Event

Join us for a mystical journey into the art of Trip Sitting and an accesible and practical guide to setting up ceremony and ritual for the psychedelic journeyer.

Julian Vayne draws on over a decade of experience, this event explores the inner journey — reminding us that “the drama is internal” — and offers grounded ways to support others through psychedelic experiences.

The session will cover the bare essentials of ceremony and care: ethical considerations, practical guidelines, music curation, and how to be present during challenging moments, both during and after a journey. We’ll look at how vulnerability and care create conditions for healing, and how the ethics of care and cultivation of virtue can shape this work.

Designed for both those supporting others and those embarking on solo journeys, this talk distils traditional wisdom alongside cutting-edge scientific research. Expect a collection of practical hints, tips on dosage, and reflections that bridge old and new ways of working with psychedelics.

"I’ve aimed to write something that will be useful to experienced space-holders who might pick up new ideas to refine their practice, but primarily for those new to the field, curious about the deep internal dive into psychedelic experience.

Trip Sitting focuses on what happens when we don’t go clubbing or wander through the forest, but instead, what happens when we lie down, often with our eyes closed, and use psychedelics for internal exploration.

It’s for anyone considering that kind of journey, or who may find themselves holding space for others doing it. For seasoned practitioners, there may still be tips, tricks, and perspectives worth adopting."

Julian Vayne

Julian Vayne is a British independent scholar and author with over forty years’ experience in esoteric culture, spanning Druidry, Chaos Magic, Shamanism, Freemasonry and Witchcraft. Immersed in the countercultural currents of punk and rave Britain, he began practicing group ritual at sixteen and has since worked with practitioners across many traditions. A senior member of the Magical Pact of the Illuminates of Thanateros, he is widely regarded as one of Britain’s leading occultists and has published pioneering works on psychedelic practice, including Pharmakon: Drugs and the Imagination and Getting Higher: The Manual of Psychedelic Ceremony.

Alongside his writing, Julian has edited Britain’s best-selling pagan newspaper, co-organizes the Breaking Convention conference, and serves as a trustee of The Psychedelic Museum Project. His work emphasizes open-source, earth-centered spirituality informed by chaos magic, ecology, and Wiccan and Tantric lineages.
