About the NeuroDynamic Breathwork® and the session

NeuroDynamic Breathwork® is a type of breathwork that involves conscious connected hyperventilation breathing technique which allows you to go deeper and meet yourself exactly where you’re at at any given moment. It is a non-directive experience inviting the breathers to trust their own agency and capacity to navigate the unfolding. The facilitator’s role is to instruct on the breathing technique, guide you in and then hold a safe space for you to be directed and led by your own inner guidance, which, in NeuroDynamic Breathwork®, is referred to as Inner Guiding Intelligence (IGI). Once the facilitator guides you in, a carefully curated music set accompanies you through the rest of the journey. After the music starts, the facilitator remains present in case anyone needs assistance, such as reminding someone of the technique or lending ‘an ear’ if someone has something come up and wishes to talk to someone, but otherwise does not interfere with the journey that your Inner Guiding Intelligence assisted by music takes you on.

NOTE. The facilitator is not a therapist. The facilitator’s role is to create and hold a safe container so your Inner Guiding Intelligence can take you where you are ready to go and to facilitate a safe space for sharing the experience should you feel called to share it.

One of the up-to-date observed and inferred neurophysiological mechanisms behind its effects suggests that accessing of the suppressed emotional material is facilitated by a temporary breathwork-induced change in CO2 and oxygen ratios reducing the Default Mode Network (DMN) activity and, by doing so, allows access to the parts of the brain that store unprocessed emotions and are usually ‘overpowered’ by DMN.

IMPORTANT. TYPES OF POSSIBLE EXPERIENCES AND CONTRAINDICATIONS.

If you’d rather listen than read, you can access 15-minute audiovisual recording covering the same information here:

• strong emotions and emotional releases

NOTE. Some of the above are absolute, while others are more precautionary. If any of the above applies to you and you are unsure of whether it is safe for you to engage in this type of breathwork at this time, please do not hesitate to reach out via email at lina@redefineandrewire.co.uk. Anything you share with me will be held in strict confidence (usual confidentiality limits apply).

NOTE. The facilitator waives any liability should you decide not to follow their guidance. It will be assumed that all attendees will have read and/or watched the presentation about the contraindications and will have made an informed decision to participate.

What the session will look like:

For the first 25-30 minutes, the facilitator will give an intro talk where they will show you and talk you through the breathing technique and invite any outstanding questions in relation to safety information provided above to make sure that you can go into the session feeling informed, safe and ready. There will be time to ask questions. This will be followed by 5 minutes comfort break.

Approx. 8-10-minute guided meditation to help you ease into a 60-65-minute unguided breathwork journey accompanied by a specially curated music set.

Sharing circle for the last 20-30 minutes. The is no pressure or expectation to share but, should you wish to do so, there’ll be time and space for it.

Total duration: 2.25-2.75 hours guided by natural flow.

What to bring/prepare:

• Eye mask (or anything to cover your eyes)

• Headphones (earphones will serve the purpose, but the music will be more immersive through the headphones)

• A cup to spit in (unlikely to need one, but just in case of the accumulation of saliva)

• A drink of water (best in a closed/lidded cup so you don’t spill it on yourself as you might feel a little woozy)

• Cushions/pillows/padding (to put around yourself to keep yourself safe from hitting any sharp/hard surfaces in case of vigorous movement; also, to hug or pound)

• A safe space where, in case of intense movement, you wouldn’t risk hitting any hard surfaces/corners

Final bit. If you can, do not eat or eat lightly 90-120 minutes before the session. But you may wish to prepare some light snacks to have soon after the event; many breathers report feeling hungry after sessions.
