Youth Workshop: Salad Wars – The Ultimate Salad Showdown!

Hey Youth! Tired of boring salads that feel more like a chore than a meal? Join us for a fresh, hands-on workshop where you’ll compete in teams to build the ultimate salad — and yes, you’ll even make your own dressing from scratch! Whether you’re all about Garden-fresh veggies, Caesar crunch, or bold Greek flavors, we’ve got something for everyone — with both vegan and non-vegan options available. Bring your creativity, your appetite, and maybe a little competitive spirit. Family and support crew are always welcome!

Participants will also receive $20 in Harvest Bucks! These vouchers can be used to purchase fresh eggs, vegetables, and fruit at participating locations throughout London and Middlesex County. For more information regarding Harvest Bucks, please visit this web page: https://www.healthunit.com/harvest-bucks

This beginner-friendly workshop is all about fun, flavor, and teamwork — no kitchen experience needed!

In this workshop, you will:

Join a salad squad: Work in teams to prep and build a signature salad — Garden, Caesar, or Greek

Whip up fresh dressings from scratch: Learn to make balsamic vinaigrette, creamy Caesar (vegan and classic), and zesty Greek dressing

Mix, chop, and customize: Master safe knife skills and salad assembly while learning practical food prep techniques

Build your bowl, your way: Choose from a toppings bar with tasty protein options like tofu, beans, chicken, and more

Vote and taste: Present your team’s creation and try out everyone’s salads. Then vote on your favorites!

What you’ll need:

• Just your hunger for good food and good vibes!

• All ingredients, tools, and materials will be provided

• Bring a container if you want to save your salad for later

• Want to bring a friend, sibling, or support person? Awesome! Just let us know when you register so we can plan ahead

This workshop is totally FREE!

RSVP through the Dandelion Event Page. Got questions or need to change your RSVP? Email us at lcrc@lcrc.on.ca. If your plans change, please let us know ASAP so we can offer your spot to someone else!

We’re committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive space for everyone. If you have specific needs or require accommodations to participate fully, please let us know when you register.

Get ready to slice, shake, and toss your way through the most delicious team competition of the summer — and walk away with new kitchen skills and new friends!
