About
A growing body of research into psychedelic-assisted therapy is opening new possibilities for healing and transformation. But what might become possible when psychedelic-assisted therapy moves beyond the individual and into the relational space of couple therapy?
In this talk, Agnieszka will explore the emerging field of psychedelic-assisted couples therapy, with a focus on ketamine-assisted couples therapy (Couple KAP), currently the only way psychedelic-assisted couples therapy can be practised legally in the UK. Agnieszka is at the forefront of bringing together the transformational potential of ketamine with robust, evidence-based couple therapy.
Drawing on emerging research, systemic and attachment-based approaches to couple therapy, including Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), clinical practice, and her own lived experience of the transformative potential of psychedelics, Agnieszka will explore how altered states can create new possibilities for relational change.
Rather than viewing ketamine as the therapy itself, the talk will explore its potential as a therapeutic ally — a treatment amplifier that creates conditions in which therapeutic work can deepen and accelerate.
Through its effects on neuroplasticity, brain connectivity, cognitive and emotional processing, and sometimes experiences of ego dissolution, ketamine can temporarily loosen rigid patterns of thoughts, feelings and behaviours that keep couples stuck in their relational patterns. Subsequently, it helps to create conditions in which habitual defences soften, perspectives shift, and emotional connection deepens.
Agnieszka will introduce the structure and process of Couple KAP, from preparation, through the ketamine experience, to subsequent integration, all of which play an essential role in turning those powerful experiences into meaningful, lasting change.

Psychedelics Unfitered
Psychedelics Unfiltered is a speaker series bringing together neuroscientists, academics and practitioners working across the psychedelic field.
The series creates candid evenings of questions, science and reflection, a space to explore psychedelics beyond the headlines, challenge assumptions and unpack the myths and stigma that surround them.
All questions are welcome. The aim is to create open and thoughtful conversations that encourage curiosity, deepen understanding, and leave space for people to form their own views.
