Wild botanical colour & slow rhythmic hand stitching to explore the architectural wisdom of thresholds.
Hosted by burn & dye
In this unconventional creative experience, traditional crafts meet plant wisdom, artful meditation and seasonal ritual to explore the paradox of the season with The High Priestess from the Tarot as our muse.
ART AS RITUAL
From the moment you enter the workshop, you enter ceremony. Ritual will be woven into the day from the wild altar we will create together with wild plants from the local landscape, intention setting and somatic meditations, and the High Priestess Tea Ceremony that will open the mystery, lead us onto the path of dreams .
The High Priestess is dying to remind you that being undone is not a malfunction. It is a natural shedding of the soul before something new can emerge. A mysterious natural process that leads to renewed energy.
In this workshop we will lean into the invitation of the season to learn the art of being undone - while making beautiful textile art
Is this for you?
- There is deep medicine and learning for anyone who feels the call regardless of experience. We will work with simple stitches. The rhythm of the stitch invites us to slow down, respond to the process and be with the present moment. Beginners are very welcome. If you're already a stitcher, this is an opportunity to experiment with a more intuitive approach and loosen the expectation of perfection.
- You do not need experience in Tarot (or even an interest to learn it) The High Priestess will provide a wild and mysterious blueprint for mastering the threshold. Her wisdom will show us how to harness the potential of the in-between while slow rhythmic stitching unlocks a distinct form of intuitive internal momentum that opens up the path of dreaming. The Material is suitable for Tarot curious - enthusiasts or anyone who appreciates art and mystery, and divine feminine badassery. The High Priestess brings it all!
- You don’t even need to be particularly into crafts or textile art to enjoy this experience. You only need to hear the call onto the dreamers path, value beauty, and be brave enough to enter the mystery.

The Call
In Autumn, you haven’t just arrived at a threshold. You are in one.
Death is visible in the landscape. The scent of smoke and damp earth lingers on the seasons dying breath. As the natural world, surrenders to the darkness, you might long for permission to soften with the liberating exhale of the fallen.
This is a wild and ancient call onto an invisible path between worlds.
It whispers….
It’s time to unravel. Slow down.
It is safe to soften. A time to dream. It’s OK to let go.
But there is something else there too.
Resistance.
A restlessness you can’t shake.
The forced momentum that refuses to let go of those unfinished projects that began in the thrust of excitement and raw potential earlier in the year.
Guilt that accompanies the thought of turning away from all those expectations, the ones that come from outside, but especially the ones that have taken up residence in your inner world, leaving no space for your dreams.
You wonder if you could even bear the feeling of being so painfully undone anyway.
Autumn is a mysterious threshold, that dissolves boundaries.
The Paradox
You think it might be more productive to push on through. Ignore your needs. But the call is heard in the paradox.
There is so much medicine to be found in this mysterious in-between, if only you knew how to harness it. If only you could slow down long enough. In this beautiful workshop that is also a creative sanctuary, we will do just that.

Slow Stitch
The physical act of stitching is, in itself is a negotiation of thresholds. Each time the needle pierces the cloth, it moves from the visible surface to the hidden underside, bridging two worlds with a single thread.
You'll learn some foundational stitches and experiment with composition, layering, natural textures and organic forms inspired by the autumn landscape.
There are no strict patterns to follow as you explore your creative edge. You will work intuitively, allowing the cloth, thread and your inner landscape to shape the piece. We are at once creator and witness through this process. What emerges can reveal what we cannot yet put into words.
The rhythm of the stitch becomes a way of finding your own way of moving — discovering when to follow, when to pause, when to change direction and when to trust what you cannot yet see.
By removing the pressure of a goal and prioritising intuitive guidance, connection to the land, and ancestral practice, you are facilitating pure High Priestess medicine. Summoning the parts of us that are wild, free and ancient. At the end of this session, you may choose to turn your work into a ritual cloth - an anchor for future threshold work, I will show you how to do this. You may wish to turn your work into a wall hanging, I will provide pieces of driftwood and instructions to do that too. Or you may wish to continue with the project in other ways. The potential is endless.

ECO-Print
Eco-printing is a sustainable textile process where natural pigments and plant forms are transferred directly onto fabric using heat.
You'll work with pre-prepared natural fibres and locally grown and gathered autumn plants to create otherworldly prints on cloth in a co-creative practice where result is never completely predictable.
You begin with intention, and well prepared fabrics ready to receive the colour and hold onto it, but you don't completely control the outcome. The plants, fabric, heat and water all participate, and what emerges, is greater than the sum of what enters. This is pure alchemy, and very addictive. At the end of the workshop you’ll have some beautiful cloth to use in future textile projects, along with guidance for working the whole process at home.
