Hi there,
Yesterday was America's independence day, election day here in the UK, and with the new moon tomorrow and French elections on Sunday, it seems summer change is in the air. And there's lots going on in our world too... In this newsletter you'll find:
- News of our restriction on social media
- A last call for applicants for our events coordinator role
- Discounted tickets to Medicine Festival
- Psychedelic research opportunities
- & all our upcoming events!
We're banned from social media

Last Saturday, both our Facebook and Instagram accounts were disabled and huge amounts of historical content deleted without warning, along with many of the personal accounts of team members and facilitators. Psychedelic organisations across the UK have experienced the same. This isn't just deeply disappointing and challenging for all of us - it's a clear sign that, even in the midst of the ‘psychedelic renaissance’, we're still fighting an uphill battle against outdated stigmas and misinformation, as algorithms continue to classify psychedelics as dangerous drugs.
We're working hard on finding new ways to connect with you all, and to continue our work sharing the benefits of expanded forms of consciousness. And we would deeply appreciate your help right now. If anyone has contacts at Meta who may be able to assist, please reach out to us at tech@psychedelicsociety.org.uk. If you'd like to make a donation to us of any amount, it would also go a long way in helping us navigate this setback. Our social media platforms are the main way we advertise our events - our primary source of revenue. We believe in the power of this community, that together we can overcome these obstacles, and continue to educate and advocate for responsible psychedelic use. If there's one thing this community knows how to do, it's adapt and grow. For now, the best place to keep up to date with us is here in this newsletter!
Applications open until July 14

You may have noticed we're running slightly fewer events these days. This is in part because we know many people are away over the summer enjoying holidays and festivals but also because capacity on our team has decreased. Which is why we're so excited to be hiring two event coordinators to join us! We're looking for someone who enjoys organising and hosting, has an eye for detail and an instinct for what will appeal to the community, and excellent communication skills. Applications open until July 14th!

Psychedelic research opportunities

- A Leeds Beckett University student is research the connection between mindfulness and psychedelic use and seeking participants for a short survey. Recruiting participants who have taken at least one psychedelic drug in their life and participants who have never taken psychedelics. Take the survey.
- This research project from Southern Cross University in Australia investigates the cognitive science of insights, and whether psychedelic insights are different in quality and intensity to insights in other contexts with a view to developing an “Insightfulness measure” and psycho-education strategies to help people understand their processes better, in psychedelic-assisted therapy (PAT) and other situations. Take the survey
- Men aged 40-65 with a history of depression are invited to participate in qualitative research via interview about their experiences with psychedelics in a legal retreat setting. To participate, email s.kahkonen@acg.edu
