Hi there,

Did you know Christmas might have a psychedelic backstory? Ok, there’s no hard evidence - nothing that proves Santa was a mushroom-eating shaman or that flying reindeer were actually, well… flying for other reasons. But the folklore alignment is pretty wild.

In the snowy north, shamans once used the bright red Amanita muscaria in winter rituals, reindeer sought the mushrooms out, and healers entered homes through the smoke hole with gifts of insight. Sound familiar? Whether coincidence or something more, winter is a season that has always invited mystery.

This month, we’re leaning into the sense of wonder. In Psychedelic Mysteries of Christmas with Darren Le Baron, we’ll explore these strange parallels - from mushrooms to midwinter rites - and why they continue to capture our imagination. For something more grounded (and delicious), Trippy Panettone: A Psychedelic Christmas Feast (tonight!) brings us together for food, warmth and shared reflection. And if you’re craving quiet magic, Flow & Float Winter Wonderland offers candlelit hammocks, breathwork and winter soundscapes.

Whether or not Santa was ever linked to a psychedelic mushroom, this season has always carried a whisper of the otherworldly. Maybe the real invitation is simply to notice it - and let a little of the mystery back in :)
