About
Dani Tonks is a trauma-informed somatic coach, workshop facilitator and systemic psychotherapist in training based in Bristol.
She is currently in the third year of a four-year MSc in Systemic Psychotherapy and works across the NHS, the mental health charity sector and the Bristol Family Therapy Collective (BFTC), supporting individuals, couples and families under clinical supervision.
Originally from the West Midlands with working class roots, Northern Irish heritage and proudly dyslexic brain, Dani brings warmth, creativity and curiosity to her work.
With a background in acting/theatre, movement and group facilitation, she creates spaces where people can slow down, reconnect with themselves and explore new ways of relating. Dani creates playful and sensitive approaches to difficult problems supporting people move through stuckness with fresh eyes and new perspective.
Her work sits at the meeting point of body, relationships and the wider systems we belong to. Weaving together somatic practice with systemic thinking, she explores how our nervous systems are shaped by our families, communities, cultures and environments.
Rather than asking, "What's wrong with you?".Dani is interested in what has happened, what resources already exist, and what becomes possible when we meet ourselves and one another with curiosity and compassion.
Drawing inspiration from systemic psychotherapy, Focusing, Authentic Movement, Gestalt, improvisation, mindfulness and play she designs creative powerful and nourishing experiences that invite greater awareness, connection and embodied change.
Outside of work and projects, you'll usually find Dani dancing, wandering through nature, sipping good coffee and spending time with friends and family.
