With a background as a doctor of Emergency Medicine, Michael is currently retraining as a psychedelic-assisted psychotherapist with the goal of helping people to prevent illnesses before they reach a crisis point. He works at a residential addiction rehabilitation clinic in Weston-super-Mare, working 1-1 and in groups.

He has completed the Psychedelic Practitioner training at the Synthesis Institute, during which he did a month long placement at a retreat centre in Mexico combining Western psychotherapy and Ayahuasca, and is now apprenticing and assisting on various retreats.

Outside of the western clinical framework, he is walking the path of sacred plant medicines in the Peruvian tradition, and has done a number of traditional “plant dietas” in Peru in 2021, 2022 and 2023 with Alonso del Río. He also practices Buddhist ways of being and silent retreat work, with a particular focus on concentration and insight meditation (samatha and vipassanā) and the cultivation of beautiful states of mind (brahmavihārās). His favourite thing in the world is to play guitar and sing to Mother Earth within ceremony.
