Join The Psychedelic Society Film Club for a journey into mind-expanding cinema. Each screening invites you to turn on, tune in, and drop out of the everyday grind, exploring stories that bend perception and challenge our understanding of reality. We will move deeper into the strange, beautiful, and transgressive world of psychedelic filmmaking.

21:30: Exit Venue

Once the film finishes you can independently integrate your new perspective or you can stay for a chat, discussion, laugh.

Venue

Shai Space: a soulful, community-rooted venue in South East London dedicated to intentional experiences. Known for their deep listening events, Reuben and Sami create a cosy living room to explore mind-expanding films.

Film Screening  

Fantastic Planet (1973)

This surreal French-Czech sci-fi classic imagines a world where humans are tiny, primitive creatures kept as pets by towering blue aliens. Told through dreamlike animation paired with an eerie electronic score, the film unfolds like a quiet nightmare, mixing fantasy with political allegory. Beneath its strange beauty lies a sharp critique of power, oppression, and resistance where  the strangeness of the outer world reflects the mysteries of our inner being. It is a deeply unsettling and visually unforgettable experience.

Your Organiser

Kate is an event coordinator at the Psychedelic Society. Her research background spans clinical sleep studies, altered states of consciousness, and personalised gene therapies. She currently works applying neuroscience to the arts at the neuroaesthetics lab, Kinda Studios. Working with Onaya Science, she explores how rituals, music, and plant medicines support trauma recovery. Kate brings curiosity and care to the ways we feel, connect, and transform (and will usually be found outside).

ACCESS:  We do our best to include everyone in our events, regardless of health circumstances. If you have access requirements please email the event organiser directly to discuss. Many facilitators are able to offer reduced ticket prices for those truly unable to afford the ticket price.
