A family friendly day of foraging, eating, making and celebrating the marvellous Bilberry!

The hills are bursting with these delicious and nutritious berries (the European blueberry), and there is so much we can do with them in such abundance. In the past, children in North Wales (and elsewhere) were given time off school to go bilberrying with their families in late Summer, and the last Sunday in July would be Bilberry Day - the hills would have been bustling with people picking these berries as a crucial source of vitamins and sweet goodness.

Join me for a fun and relaxing day in the bilberry fields.

On this course you will:

  • Discover the long social history of our relationship with the Bilberry, from pre history to modern day
  • Get purple fingers from picking and eating tons of wild bilberries!
  • Taste and learn how to make a variety of bilberry dishes from fruit leather, bilberry vinegar and more
  • Try berry-based crafts like making berry ink and natural bilberry dye.
  • Spend the day in a stunning wild location

Kids of all ages welcome, under 5s FREE. Choose your own price based on what you can afford.
