Special guest facilitator: Richard Lang!
Richard will guide attendees through Headless Way experiments, followed by an hour of music and dancing
From Richard:
Hello! I am honoured to be given the opportunity by Amir to guide participants through some of the Headless Way experiments — pointing, the no-head circle, the well of time, turning… — including some experiments that focus on movement — on movement arising in this Still Awareness that each of us is. As we go along, I will indicate how these experiments connect with movement in general, and in particular of course with dance. In the light of these simple observations — of movement arising in Stillness — after doing the experiments together we will go on to move, on our own and together, to wonderful music! Music arising in the Silence. I am looking forward to being this Stillness that we all are — this ‘dancing awareness’ — in which we meet and move, each in our own unique and special way. All are welcome.
The Headless Way
The Headless Way is growing in popularity as an astonishingly simple way to notice fundamental truths about your experience, which for some people can be both thrilling and liberating.
In a series of deceptively simple experiments and awareness exercises, you will have the chance to see for yourself what mystics throughout the ages have always pointed to.
CS Lewis called this approach “a work of the highest genius” and Sam Harris has mentioned it recently in both books and his podcast as a direct way of seeing ‘that makes perfect sense to me.”
The experiments were developed by the philosopher Douglas Harding, who wrote: “Though in essence the same as Zen, Sufism, and other spiritual disciplines, this way proceeds in an unusually down-to-earth fashion.” Headless way claims you are more likely to see who you really are in a few minutes of experimentation than years of years of reading, meditation or traditional spiritual practice.
Instead of these, it uses a variety of simple, non-verbal, fact-finding tests, all of them asking: how do I look to myself?
Richard looks forward to sharing this direct seeing of our True Self. music.
Headless Dancing
A chance to integrate headlessness into movement, to a range of eclectic music.
Richard Lang
Richard is the world’s foremost proponent of Headless Way and was recently interviewed by Sam Harris on his podcast and now features as a teacher on the Waking Up meditation app.
The Venue
The Meditatio Centre is a vibrant and welcoming oasis in the hub of London. It is open to people from all walks of life, from any religious, spiritual or secular tradition. It has regular meditation sessions and teaching on the practice and hosts an annual programme of events to explore the deeper dimensions of life. They host events that look at the contemplative aspects of modern living: science, the arts, business, the environment, interfaith and the mystical core of Christianity. Workshops enliven the space – yoga, movement, poetry, dance – local artists are also invited to exhibit their work. | ![]() |
