Breath & Bass | Drum & Bass Breathwork Journey
Sheffield's original Drum & Bass Breathwork journey. Explore breath, music and sound in an immersive experience of energy and stillness.
Join Macaulay Sutton and Lauren Bell from Arctic Alchemy for a unique three-hour group experience combining conscious breathwork, carefully curated Drum & Bass soundscapes, guided movement and sound healing.
What happens when you bring together the energy of Drum & Bass, the power of conscious breathing and the restorative qualities of sound?
Breath & Bass is an immersive experience designed to give you the opportunity to step away from the demands of everyday life, reconnect with yourself and explore the relationship between your breath, body and mind.
With the festive season quickly approaching, life can become very busy. More demands, more commitments and often less time for ourselves. This is your opportunity to take a step back, reset and tackle the season ahead from a different place.
Throughout the evening, we'll guide you through an experience that moves between energy and stillness. Through movement, conscious breathing and sound, we'll explore how our breathing can influence how we feel, develop greater awareness of our physical and emotional responses to stress and discover practical ways to support our own wellbeing.
But this isn't just about having a good experience on the day. It's also about exploring techniques you can take away and use in everyday life to manage stress, support relaxation, encourage nervous system regulation and build greater resilience.
Whether you're completely new to breathwork or already have an established practice, this is an invitation to experience the breath and music in a different way.
Who is this for?
Breath & Bass is for those looking to try something different, step outside their usual routine and explore new ways of supporting their physical and mental wellbeing.
You might be feeling overwhelmed, struggling to switch off, carrying physical tension or simply looking for a different way to manage the demands of everyday life.
With the festive season just around the corner, it's a chance to put some time aside for yourself, recharge and build practical tools to help you navigate the weeks ahead.
No previous experience is needed. Everything will be guided, with encouragement to listen to your body and work at your own pace.
The Experience
The evening is carefully structured to take you through different stages, moving from energy and movement into conscious breathing, followed by deep relaxation and integration.
1. Arrival & Welcome | 18:00–18:15
Arrive, get settled and meet your hosts and the rest of the group. We'll introduce the evening, talk through what to expect and create an opportunity to settle into the space before we begin.
There'll be time to ask questions, get comfortable and start bringing your attention away from the outside world and into the present moment.
2. Ground & Energise | 18:15–18:35
We'll begin by bringing some energy into the room through guided movement and simple breathing techniques.
This is about coming back to the body, shifting some energy and moving your attention away from the demands of everyday life. We'll use this time to prepare physically and mentally before moving into the main breathwork experience.
An opportunity to shake off the day, get moving and begin turning your focus inwards.
3. The Breath & Bass Journey | 18:35–19:50
The heart of the experience.
Once we're comfortable and settled, we'll move into a guided conscious breathwork journey accompanied by immersive, carefully selected Drum & Bass soundscapes.
Using the rhythm and energy of the music alongside specific breathing techniques, we'll explore the connection between breath, body and mind.
You'll be guided throughout, with opportunities to explore your own experience, tune into physical sensations and develop greater awareness of how your breathing can influence how you feel.
The combination of conscious breathing and music creates an immersive environment where you can explore energy, emotion, stillness and everything in between.
4. Sound Bath & Integration | 19:50–20:20
Following the breathwork, we'll transition into a relaxing sound bath led by Lauren.
Using crystal singing bowls and other soothing instruments, the focus shifts towards stillness and rest.
This provides an opportunity to slow down, allowing the body to settle following the breathwork and create the space for the integration of the experience.
A chance to simply soften and rest.
5. Closing Circle & Takeaways | 20:40–21:00
We'll come together as a group to reflect on the evening and any experiences or insights we'd like to share.
A chance to reconnect, listen to others, connect with like-minded people and take a moment to recognise how you're feeling. Sharing is entirely optional, and everyone is welcome to simply listen.
We'll also explore some practical breathing and relaxation techniques that you can incorporate into your everyday routine. From managing moments of stress and overwhelm to creating opportunities to pause, recharge and reset, the intention is for you to leave with more than just a memorable experience.
You'll take away simple, practical tools that you can continue using long after the event.
What can you take away?
Breath & Bass is an opportunity to explore practices that can support your physical and mental wellbeing, both during the experience and beyond.
You can expect:
Time away from everyday demands: An opportunity to step back from your usual routine, switch off and give yourself some dedicated time.
Greater nervous system awareness: Develop a better understanding of your nervous system, how stress can affect your body and mind, and how different practices can support regulation.
Practical breathing techniques: Explore breathing practices that can support relaxation, help manage stress and create moments of calm throughout your day.
Greater mind-body awareness: Become more aware of your physical and emotional responses and the relationship between your breathing and how you feel.
An opportunity to release tension: Use movement, conscious breathing and relaxation to explore and ease accumulated physical tension.
Rest and recovery: Experience the contrast between the energy of the breathwork journey and the stillness of the sound bath.
Tools for everyday life: Take away simple practices that you can continue using to help navigate the demands of everyday life.
Connection and clarity: Make space for reflection, reconnect with yourself and leave with a renewed sense of energy.
The practices explored can support your ability to manage stress, encourage relaxation and help you develop a healthier relationship with your own wellbeing.
Everyone's experience will be different. There's no expectation to achieve a particular outcome or experience things in a certain way.
