Read the Land. Re-wild the World. Learn the basics of Rewilidng with Ash Brown (Bees to a Flower)

Join us for a weekend of all things Rewilding on September 12 & 13th! Located at an 18-acre restoration site in the south of Devon. We will spend the day walking the land, learning how degraded ecosystems recover, and discovering the practical skills used to bring nature back to life. Followed by food and conversation with fellow nature lovers, guided by Ash Brown, nature restoration specialist.

Successful rewilding means knowing not just what nature needs, but how to read what it is already telling you. This requires you to learn the land beneath your feet, the plants that signal soil health, the species that reveal what is missing, and the forces that are holding an ecosystem back from recovery. Together we will walk an 18-acre site at the very start of its rewilding journey, and learn to see it through the eyes of a restoration specialist.

We'll use plant identification to assess the health of the ecosystem, recognise what is stopping it from recovering, and explore the strategies used to bring it back to life. We'll also explore the building of a food forest — how perennial plants, fruit trees, and layered habitats can create a landscape of abundance for both wildlife and people. You'll learn how to observe the land, collect data, design a restoration plan, and manage it adaptively as nature responds.

A lot goes into restoring an ecosystem. But that makes every green shoot, every returning species, every sign of life all the more extraordinary.

About Ash Brown 

Ash Brown is a nature restoration specialist and the co-founder of the ecosystem restoration communities movement and the nature recovery consultancy, Ash Brown Wilding. She supports landowners at multiple scales to restore ecological function, grow food, increase biodiversity, and restore the broken water cycle. In this workshop, you will visit one of the sites that Ash is working to restore, learn how to read the landscape and diagnose its issues, and how to restore it.
