Are you ready to more fully embody the witch – not just as a spiritual archetype, but as a political one too?

In this femme workshop, we'll explore the Witch as a figure who brings spirituality and politics together. Through her, we'll consider how our inner worlds connect with the wider systems we live within, and how we might embody different ways of being, relating and resisting.

Drawing on Sylvia Federici's Caliban and the Witch, we'll explore the history of the witch hunts and their relationship to capitalism, patriarchy and the suppression of alternative ways of living.  We'll consider how the Witch disrupts the binaries and hierarchies that underpin oppressive systems, and what she might teach us about imagining different ways of being.

Through a combination of feminist theory and embodied practice, we'll move beyond ideas and into experience, exploring what it means to embody resistance in our own lives.

Perhaps you're longing for a spirituality that makes room for the realities of the world we live in, or a politics that leaves space for spirit, embodiment and imagination. This workshop is an invitation to bring these worlds into conversation and what each might offer the other.

At a time when the world feels increasingly difficult to bear, how might we draw on the Witch to honour our anger and grief, reclaim our power and imagine what else is possible?

Together, we'll explore the Witch as both a figure of resistance and a guide towards liberation.

Through her, we'll consider how our inner worlds connect with the wider systems we live within, and how we might embody different ways of being, relating and resisting.

What to expect:

  • An interweaving of academic theory with group conversations and physical embodiment
  • A socio-historical analysis of the figure of the witch, including the relation to capitalism, patriarchy, colonialism and the climate crisis
  • A deconstruction of binary and dualist thinking
  • Guided embodiment practices, partnered and in groups
  • A sharing circle to reflect, connect, and integrate
  • Practical applications of these concepts to use in your everyday life
  • An understanding of the Witch as an alternative worldview, and a resource to draw on in liberation work

This is for you if:

  • You feel a connection to the Witch archetype and are curious about her deeper political significance
  • You are feeling despair and grief at the state of the world, and are looking for new models of being
  • You are keen to work and learn in the space where spirituality and politics meet
  • You are engaged in politics, activism, organising or social movements and are in need of resourcing
  • You are fed up of love-and-light spirituality and spiritually-vacant politics, and are looking for a space where these two worlds are understood together

Who is leading the workshop?

Jasmine Adelaide

Is going to lead the academic and theoretical elements, drawing on material adapted from her undergraduate dissertation exploring the Witch as a figure of resistance.

Faye Gould

Will be leading the embodied elements of the workshop. Faye is an experienced facilitator and member of the True Nature team, a platform committed to feminine and ecological empowerment.

Together, we'll bring intellectual exploration and embodied experience into conversation, creating space to think, feel, question and explore what it might mean to embody resistance in our own lives.

Our intention is to create a workshop that is intellectually stimulating, politically engaged, resourcing and joyful. A space where anger and grief can be honoured alongside imagination, hope and resilience. Because resistance isn't only about what we fight against. It's also about what we reclaim, what we refuse, and what we dare to create instead.
