Psychedelic Speed-Friending & Social
We are excited to host the very first Brighton edition of our multi-sellout event, Speed-Friending! This event is not really about psychedelics, but a chance for people who are curious in meeting others who are interested in the psychedelic community to meet each other (so you definitely don't need to have tried psychedelics before!).
What to expect
Psychedelic Speed-Friending is a night of sweet conversation, open to everyone, where you can drop the small talk and ask the questions you REALLY want to ask. We use the word ‘speed’ in the loosest possible sense. Real connection can't be rushed and neither will we!
Taking inspiration from the 36 Questions to Intimacy and The School of Life's '100 Questions', this kind of platonic friend ‘dating’ gives you a menu of profound, intriguing, and spicy questions designed to inspire authenticity and deepen your connection with those around you.
You’ll be guided through playful ice breakers, and into a series of 10 minute conversations with strangers, in groups of 2's and 3's throughout the evening and landing into free flowing socialising.
You’ll leave here with new friends and inspiration for how to guide conversation into juicy and interesting territory.
Our venue & arrival information
We will be meeting at The Walrus, a beautiful pub near the Brighton seafront. We will be in The Raised Room, which is accessible through the ground floor, down to the left - please ask a member of staff if you're struggling to find it. There are a few steps up to the room, so please contact Mags (mags@psychedelicsociety.org.uk) in advance of the event if you require any assistance. An accessible toilet is available.
We kindly ask that you arrive no later than 19:15 so we can begin on time and close the container for deep connection and conversation. Everyone is welcome to stay to socialise and enjoy the space after we finish the facilitated part of the night at 9.30pm. We have the room until close!
Food and drink: you can purchase drinks from the bar before we start, during the interval and after 21:30. Food can be ordered from the bar before 19:15 or after 21:30. We don't recommend ordering food during the event (although we're still happy for you to do so if you need to), as we will be moving around the room during the evening, so it simply isn't very practical!
Facilitator: Mags Houston
Mags curates and hosts events for The Psychedelic Society on drug policy, psychedelic science and mental health treatment, as well as more generally growing our incredible community.
Mags’ mission is to shift the mainstream narrative around drugs by helping to provide education and challenging UK drug policy, so that therapies and medicines that are currently not accessible to patients might be made available on the NHS and prescribed to the people who desperately need them. Alongside her work for the Society, Mags is Head of Projects & Communications at the UK's leading drug policy charity, Drug Science, as well as volunteering for Heroic Hearts Project UK, a not-for-profit organisation that helps veterans suffering with PTSD through psychedelic therapy, retreats and research.
Mags is trained in Authentic Relating and Internal Family Systems with ART International, as well as heart-centred tantric communication. She is committed to building communities, bringing people together through open, honest expression.
