The Myth & Science of 5-MeO-DMT with Dr. Malin Uthaug

Exploring the most profound and least understood psychedelic experience on Earth

5-MeO-DMT is unlike anything else. Described by many who have taken it as the most intense and all-encompassing experience of their lives, it can produce a complete dissolution of the sense of self, leaving behind something that is difficult to put into words, and often impossible to forget.

Yet despite growing interest, it remains one of the least understood psychedelics in both scientific and public discourse.

So what do we actually know , and what does the research tell us about approaching it safely and meaningfully?

In this in-depth session, Dr. Malin Uthaug,  one of the world's leading researcher at the University of Maastricht, takes us beyond the mystery and into the evidence. Bridging neuroscience, subjective experience, and real-world safety considerations, this talk offers a grounded and accessible exploration for anyone curious about 5-MeO-DMT.

The session will open with a presentation by Dr. Uthaug, followed by a live Q&A with the audience.

⚠️ This is an educational event. No medical or clinical advice can be given during this session.

Can’t attend the live event? No problem -  all ticket holders will get access to the recording.

Your Speaker

Dr. Malin Vedøy Uthaug is a scientist of extremes, educator, consultant, freediver, and breathwork facilitator. Founder of Embalance AS and principal Investigator at Maastricht University. Her work examines what happens when the human system is pushed beyond its ordinary limits, where altered states unfold across the body and nervous system, and where outcomes diverge between integration and dysregulation. Moving between pharmacological and non-pharmacological extremes, from 5-MeO-DMT to freediving, she combines immersive field exposure with biomarker-driven science. Her approach is not confined to the lab. It is grounded in real-world conditions, where physiology, perception, and adaptation intersect. Her mission is to move this work beyond theory, into how we heal, thrive, and optimize.
