Dance of the Goddess Cacao Ceremony: London

Held in the sweet bosom of Ecuadorian Cacao from Cacao Amor, we journey through five Goddess Archetypes, invoking their qualities, learning their myths and stories, and bringing their wisdom into our bodies.

This dance is based on Jean Shinoda Bolen’s book ‘Goddesses in Everywoman’, a classic work of female psychology that uses archetypal Greek Goddesses as a way of describing behaviour patterns and personality traits. Gaia combines this powerful text with the classic 5 Rhythms structure, lifting its wisdom out of the pages and onto the dance floor.

Each Goddess contains a particular energy or theme which is reflected in the music, taking you on journey through the Maiden, Warrior, Lover, Queen and Priestess

This dance has been developed to help women access different energies and emotions, to deepen our understanding of self, and heal the body and mind through movement and creative expression.

This is a sacred and playful space for women to explore, express and release. Together we create a safe environment to be free, wild, soft, angry, vulnerable and powerful.

The 5 Greek Goddesses:
 

Maiden - Persephone 

Goddess of the grain and Queen of the underworld. Teaches us how to be curious and surrender

Warrior - Athena 

Goddess of war and strategy. Teaches us how to set boundaries and relate to anger

Lover - Aphrodite 

Goddess of beauty, sensuality, and love. Teaches us to be creative and to claim our sexuality

Queen - Hera 

Queen of heaven and earth. Teaches us to own our gifts and lift up other women

Priestess - Hestia 

Goddess of the hearth. Teaches us reverence and to be in conversation with mystery

Important Things to Note

This event is for those who identify as women and non-binary womb folk. 

This event will include invitations to express strong emotions, such as anger and grief, invitations for physical contact, and invitations for partial or full nudity. 

Participants will not be expected to do anything beyond their comfort level, though you will be expected to know your own limits and hold your own boundaries. During the workshop you will be offered verbal and non-verbal tools to communicate consent and boundaries with fellow participants. 

Anyone who goes against our community standards of respect towards other participants will be asked to leave.

COVID

• We ask that all attendees take a lateral flow test prior to attending the event.
• Please do not come if you develop symptoms, or come into contact with someone who has COVID, in the days before the event. Let us know ASAP and we will issue you a full refund and offer your place to someone on the waitlist.
• We will have hand sanitiser available. 
• Masks will not be worn unless you specifically want to.
• If you're particularly COVID cautious we suggest that you don't attend as there will be lots of moving around. 

About Your Facilitator

Gaia is a workshop facilitator, artist and DJ creating spaces for deep transformation and specialising in women's empowerment. 

Gaia is passionate about the revival of ritual and works with communities to co-create ceremonies around the world, helping people to mark significant moments, move through challenges, and celebrate life. Her work combines elements of theatre games, voice work, meditation, dance and ritual, creating safe and playful environments where people can authentically connect and release.

She has been holding women's spaces for the last 5 years, and in the last year has begun offering residential retreats. You can find out more about Gaia's offerings on her website.
