Samhain is the start of the Celtic new year, and in ancient times our Iron Age forebears would celebrate on the 2nd new moon after the autumn equinox. And so this year we gather on Sun 8th for a deep ceremony of connection and remembering.
Our time together will begin with opening the space with words in Proto-Celtic, a mother tongue of these isles. We'll share mugwort tea*, and connect in the circle.
We will embark on a traditional journey to connect with our ancestors, followed by a time to reflect and share.
We place our prayers for the healing of the world into the fire, and we close as we set an intention for what we will carry into the new year.
Ancestor Altar
Everyone is invited to bring an item to place on the Ancestor Altar. Something to remind you of someone who has passed; be they family, friend, a pet, or a stranger.
* IMPORTANT INFO
Mugwort is contraindicated for women who are pregnant or trying to conceive.
Meet Your Host
Dan Knowlson is a ceremonialist, mentor and teacher. He has been on an unfolding exploration of personal healing and growth for more than 2 decades.
He teaches workshops, holds ceremonies with cacao, hawthorn, mugwort and fire, and collaborates with musicians and healers. He guides people around the world to step fully into the role of ceremonial leader, through the path of their heart.
Dan's path includes fire and water through his training with sweat lodges, re-connecting ever more with the ancient ways of the British Isles, its plants and guides.
Our Venue
Our venue is the cosy geodesic dome at the Manu Centre, on the edge of Bradford on Avon. The woodburner will be lit and heaters on, cushions and sheepskins await.
The creative vision of Vicki Palmer, founder of the Manu Centre more than 20 years ago, the Dome is the realisation of her desire for a sacred space to hold and heal.
