PsySoc Social: Special Guests Dr Claire Malone & Psychedelics Storytelling
This month, we’re thrilled to welcome our special guest Dr Claire Malone, a high-energy physicist turned psychonaut, and Batuhan Bintas ,a creative technologist, speaker, and AI animator, both bridging the worlds of cutting-edge science, AI, and psychedelic medicine.
With a PhD from Cambridge and years of research at CERN’s ATLAS experiment, Dr Claire has evolved her quest from searching for hidden particles to exploring how technology and psychedelics can augment human ability, creativity, and healing.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
Talk followed by Q&A: in this talk, Dr Malone and Batuhan will will share how artificial intelligence is transforming psychedelic medicine: from accelerating drug discovery to creating personalized treatments and immersive therapeutic environments. She will also explore the ethical challenges we face around data, equity, and responsibility, asking how we can use these powerful tools not just for individual transformation, but to help build a more just and connected world.
Psychedelics Storytelling: this is becoming a must for our monthly socials. There will be the opportunity for all of us to share our psychedelic stories - the weird, the tricky and the downright wonderful. This part of the evening will be open-mic style and we will have a sign-up sheet to add your name to the list of storytellers. Your stories should be no more than 5 minutes and there's no need to rehearse what to say or come particularly prepared - often the best stories are told off-the-cuff and from the heart!
A Beautiful Psychedelic Community: Get access to our wonderful community coalescing around all things fungi. Many people at our socials have become life-long friends. Most of our members come alone, this is a safe and welcoming space for everyone, no matter your age, sexuality, background, gender, ethnicity or nationality. Fungi know no boundaries, which is the ethos we bring to our socials.
Delicious Food and Drink: Indulge in the mouthwatering plant-based offerings at Love Shack, where creativity extends to the kitchen. Their menu features delicious, sustainably sourced dishes and drinks crafted to nourish the body and delight the senses. It’s the perfect accompaniment to an evening of artistic exploration.

SPEAKERS
Dr Claire Malone

Dr. Claire Malone is a particle physicist, science communicator, and journalist specializing in the intersection of artificial intelligence, ethics, and scientific discovery. With a PhD from the University of Cambridge, her research at CERN’s ATLAS experiment focused on searching for evidence of supersymmetric particles—potential candidates for dark matter. During this time, she saw firsthand how machine learning was revolutionizing data analysis in high-energy physics, dramatically increasing the efficiency and scope of research.
Now a leading voice on AI’s impact on science and society, Claire speaks internationally on how AI is reshaping research methodologies from particle physics to medicine. She has delivered keynotes at conferences across Europe and the U.S., including at the Fermilab Laboratory in Chicago and the Ethical AI Spaces of Learning conference organized by the City of London Corporation. She recently addressed the Presenters Network on the role of AI in news reporting, exploring how AI tools are transforming how we engage audiences and communicate complex ideas.
Batuhan Bintas

Batuhan Bintas is a creative technologist, speaker, and AI animator whose work explores the intersection of altered states of consciousness, mythology, ancient civilizations, and emerging technologies such as machine consciousness.
A participant in the groundbreaking DMT research at Imperial College London, Batuhan brings visionary experiences to life through immersive AI-generated animation and interactive storytelling.
He has shared his insights on the psychedelic realm, digital identity, and the future of consciousness at leading festivals and conferences including Boom Festival, Glastonbury, Equinox, Ozora, Occulture, Breaking Convention, and many more.
His work has been featured by renowned author Graham Hancock, and through ongoing documentary and animation projects, Batuhan maps the symbolic worlds of timeless mysticism, ancient civilizations, and modern machine intelligence, inviting audiences to reimagine the boundaries of reality.
