What AI does today, the average person on the street would not believe...
Agentic AI are systems designed to operate autonomously. Making decisions, pursuing goals and taking actions with minimal human intervention.
As founder and chief scientist of Europe's first company developing hardware for Agentic AI, Bernardo Kastrup has unique insight into this upcoming revolution and its likely impact on humanity - a change that "is coming in our lifetime."
For now, it costs too much energy to make the most powerful AI available to the public, but that will soon change.
We will have the totality of humanity's intelligence times a few million in our pockets. Just like we have electricity everywhere, water, everywhere, Internet, everywhere. Well, superhuman intelligence everywhere. And it's around the corner.
It won't just be intelligence that is impacted. Bernardo predicts that “the amplifying effect of AI on human creativity will be so discombobulating it will look like there is another species on the planet. This will be a change like never before. And there is no walking back from this either.”
Successfully navigating this emerging world will require sober introspection, but also a commitment to being well-informed.
- Will these new systems be conscious?
- What role will humans have in this emerging world?
Bernardo is one of the few people on the planet with a PhD in both computer engineering and a PhD in philosophy, and author of more than 10 books dedicated to the subject of consciousness.
He is also probably the most well-known modern proponent of metaphysical idealism - the notion that the fundamental nature of reality in consciousness. Drawing on foundational physics, neuroscience and analytic philosophy, he has reached conclusions remarkably similar to the views celebrated by ancient mystical traditions.
We are thrilled to host an evening dedicated to his thoughts and a Q&A on the topic, and excited to invite you to join.
You can attend this event as a one-off, or as part of the membership programme With Reality in Mind.

About Bernardo Kastrup

Bernardo Kastrup's work has been leading the modern renaissance of the philosophical position, ‘metaphysical idealism’ that reality is essentially mental, an appearance in ‘mind.’ Bernardo has a Ph.D. in philosophy (ontology, philosophy of mind) and another Ph.D. in computer engineering (reconfigurable computing, artificial intelligence). As a scientist, Bernardo has worked for the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) and the Philips Research Laboratories (where the 'Casimir Effect' of Quantum Field Theory was discovered). Formulated in detail in many academic papers and books, his ideas have been featured on Scientific American, the Institute of Art and Ideas, the Blog of the American Philosophical Association and Big Think, among others. Bernardo's most recent book is The Idea of the World: A multi-disciplinary argument for the mental nature of reality. About Amir Giles
Amir runs Adventures in Awareness and hosts With Reality in Mind to foster connections between meditators, scientists and philosophers, aimed at generating new insights that can benefit ordinary people. Through discussion, events and courses he hosts explorations in what it means to be a ‘modern mystic’ - balancing the challenges and gifts of modern life whilst alive to timeless mystery.
He previously worked for 20 years as a choreographer, performer and movement artist on everything from the Royal Opera House & the Royal Court, to MARVEL and Tom Cruise movies, specialising in contemporary dance, contact improvisation and Argentine tango.
He remains interested into how insight can transform how we move, relate and live.

I thoroughly recommend this, a day that is still resonating. Simple yet profound. Richard is a wonderfully engaging and welcoming host and facilitator. It was fun and challenging, exploring together the headless way.

James Cooke skillfully blended discussion and meditation to illuminate both the intellectual and felt understanding of our conscious nature. The intimate setting, with a small group of sharing participants, was perfectly attuned to the depth of the experience.
