Grof® Breathwork - Experiential Weekend
London, November 8 - 11th
Yoga In The Stars, London E11 4EA, UK
Do you find yourself wondering, “What's the difference between Holotropic Breathwork and Grof® Breathwork?”
The answer is: nothing. They are exactly the same, designed by Stanislav & Christina Grof.
So why call it differently?
Stan sold his trademarked “Holotropic Breathwork” to a colleague decades ago so that he could focus on developing his research. In 2021, Stan launched a new school of his work, including psychedelic therapy, Grof Legacy Training (GLT) which includes the infamous method of breathing for 3 hours with a sitter, specific music and the use of bodywork. As he sold his trademark, he renamed it so that his work could spread and have a wider reach. Grof® Breathwork is, therefore, a revival of his work carried by the new generation. Interestingly, many existing “Holotropic Breathwork” facilitators and trainers are in the process of transitioning their “titles” into Grof® Breathwork. Expect to see a new wave of Stan's legacy sweep the globe as our culture shifts into the next era of therapeutic use of psychedelics.
NOTE: This workshop is suited for those who want to explore the practice of Grof® (aka Holotropic) Breathwork for their own personal development.
It also offers the opportunity to practice the 'role of the sitter' according to the requirements of the Grof® and Holotropic Breathwork training and, other psychedelic-assisted therapy training.
Please contact Basia Zieniewicz to set up a phone call first. The call and filling out some forms are part of the registration for this intensive process. Whatsapp +447756880357or basia@yogainthestars.com
THE METHOD
Grof® Breathwork is a highly experiential work recommended for those interested in their personal and spiritual growth through deep inner exploration. Stan Grof’s basic concept is that the wisdom of our 'inner healer' will direct us and bring to our consciousness what is best and most healing for us at any given moment.
The process itself combines accelerated breathing with evocative music which helps to amplify the experience and release stuck or unconscious material.
The sessions are done in pairs. During each breathwork session, the participants are lying on a mat with eyes closed, while using the power of their own breath and evocative music to enter an expanded state of consciousness (NOSC).
Such states are shown to activate our innate inner wisdom, bringing healing, release and/or insight
For this, we honor the main 3 guidelines of any work with holotropic states: the preparation, the experience and the integration of the experience.
Once the breathwork session is complete, the breather is invited to draw a mandala of their experience. This does not require drawing skills!
Additional elements of the process include focused energy release, when the body needs support releasing and healing.
The sessions are then followed by a sharing circle where people can share their experience + a practice of integration, to support the content of the breathwork session.
Format of the Workshop
Single workshop: 2 Grof (aka Holotropic) Breathwork sessions (1 as breather and 1 as sitter holding space).
The workshop consists of Grof® Breathwork sessions with evocative music, bodywork, mandala drawing, group sharing and a sequence of integration practices on the final evening.
