Join The Female Forager (Alexandra Lea) for a guided woodland walk exploring the fascinating world of medicinal fungi, their role within woodland ecosystems, and their potential to heal life threatening conditions.

Together we'll learn how to safely identify a variety of wild mushroom species, discover the habitats in which they thrive, and explore the medicinal properties that have made fungi an important part of healing traditions across cultures for centuries.

Drawing on her background in Biology, over a decade studying medicinal mushrooms, professional experience in the functional mushroom sector, and more than twenty years of spiritual practice, Alexandra explores fungi through ecological, medicinal, cultural, and spiritual perspectives.

More than a foraging walk, this experience invites participants to see fungi through multiple lenses. Scientific, medicinal, ecological, and experiential, while developing a greater appreciation for the extraordinary kingdom that exists beneath our feet.

This event has proved highly popular in previous years and returns for its third consecutive year. Spaces are limited, so early booking is recommended.

Location

Cowdray Forest, West Sussex is home to an abundance of varied wildlife. Just a one and a half hour drive from London, or a 35 min train from London. The woodland is not within walking distance of the nearest train station. If you are travelling by train or do not have access to a car, we recommend arranging a taxi share with other participants. We'll connect ride sharers ahead of the event to coordinate travel.

MEET THE FEMALE FORAGER

Alexandra Lea

Alexandra is a biologist and ethnomycologist specialising in medicinal fungi, with a rare ability to bridge rigorous scientific enquiry and intuitive spiritual understanding.

Drawing on over two decades of spiritual practice and more than ten years immersed in the medicinal potential of the fungal kingdom, she brings a uniquely holistic perspective to fungi education.

Having worked with two of the UK's leading medicinal mushroom organisations, Alexandra has delivered workshops, talks and guided forays across the UK and Europe to audiences ranging from healthcare and mental health professionals to foragers, nature enthusiasts and curious newcomers to the fungal world.

She leads immersive foraging experiences designed to empower participants to confidently identify medicinal mushrooms, understand their ecological roles and therapeutic potential, and appreciate the profound relationships fungi form with people and the natural world.

At the heart of her work is a passionate belief in reconnecting people with nature's edible and medicinal resources, honouring both the science and the spirit of the fungal kingdom.
