Harberton Parish Hall is hosting Friday Night Dance: Winter-Spring Series 2027, with one session taking place at Dartington Studio 6. Run by facilitator Leela Fisk, the six-session gathering offers a supportive space for adults of all genders to explore somatic movement, improvisation, and music. Participants dance, rest, and play with varying soundscapes, alongside occasional moments of guided reflection and verbal sharing.

The sessions welcome seasoned dancers, those returning to dance, and complete beginners alike. People are free to take part in whatever way suits them on the night, whether that means moving freely, wearing earplugs, sitting back to witness others, or simply lying down to rest or sleep. Fisk brings seventeen years of experience in community dance to lead the group, which has been meeting locally for more than a decade.

Around Totnes, autumn brings a mix of open-air theatre, woodland ritual and neighbourhood parties. High above Buckfastleigh, the Brown Bread Choir presents BABY, a free folk opera performed at sunset in an old ruin. Seventy singers gather for old songs, an ancient apple-smashing ritual, a sizeable monster and a giant marrow, with spectators attending at their own risk.

Nearby in the Dartington woods, the Samhain Ceremony offers an adult gathering indoors at the Nest, alongside an outdoor fire and ancestor altar. Led by shamanic practitioner Lorraine Chamberlain, the event includes singing, drumming, storytelling and a guided journey to call on ancestral support; guests should note that dogs and young children cannot attend. Meanwhile, down in town at the Moor Imagination Centre on Chapel Street, the HALLOWEEN FAMILY GATHER welcomes all ages for an evening of costume-wearing, haunted disco dancing, games, stories and food.
