A packed day of gatherings across the area offers plenty of ways to move, listen and connect. Dancers with some previous creative or movement experience can head to Studio 12 in Buckfastleigh for Human Animal - a day of dancing, a movement workshop exploring ideas of animalism and physical connection with hosts Harriet Roberts and Ruth Pethybridge. Nearby at the Moor Imagination Centre, families, adults and children can gather for The Mythic Parlour - Stories For All, a morning of laughter, music and tales with musical storyteller Mica Sinclair.

Later in the woods of Dartington, adults can mark the seasonal shift at the Samhain Ceremony at The Glade, North Woods. Led by shamanic practitioner Lorraine Chamberlain alongside Adam and Madeleine, the ritual gathering welcomes guests for ancestral invocations, fireside reflection, singing and poetry in an alcohol-free and dog-free space.

South Devon residents looking to connect with others have two new community gatherings to consider.

In Harberton near Totnes, Harberton Parish Hall hosts Friday Night Dance: Winter-Spring Series 2027. Facilitated by Leela Fisk, the six-session series is open to all adults, whether experienced dancers or complete newcomers. Participants move, rest, and improvise to music with light guidance, with freedom to lie down, witness, or wear earplugs as needed.

Further east along the coastline, the Psychedelic Society Exeter is running Coast & Consciousness: A Nature Connection Walk, Teignmouth to Dawlish. Guided by Zephyr Wood, the mindful walk follows the South West Coast Path sea wall and red cliffs from Teignmouth beach to Coryton Cove. Open to anyone attending alone or with friends, the route features pauses for nature-connection practices and quiet reflection, with an optional café visit at the end.

Local calendars are filling up with seasonal gatherings across the area. In Dartington's North Woods, a Samhain Ceremony at The Glade brings adults together around indoor and outdoor fires for an alcohol-free evening of ancestral invocations, poetry, singing, and a guided session with shamanic practitioner Lorraine Chamberlain; please leave dogs and young children at home.

Meanwhile, Buckfastleigh hosts two very different community events. High above the town in an old ruin, seventy singers from the Brown Bread Choir stage BABY, a free folk opera featuring old songs, a giant marrow, a monster, and an apple-smashing ritual, intended for anyone willing to brave the off-limits site. Down on Chapel Street, the Moor Imagination Centre opens its doors to all ages for the HALLOWEEN FAMILY GATHER, where families can dress in costume for an evening of stories, a disco, games, and food.
