🫙 JAMMED IN THE JAR 🥒

Jam Making, Pickling, Ferments... and More!

10am - Set-up; come and help!
11am - Workshop Start
1:30pm - Communal Clean Up

The delightful Jam in a Jar, Green Lanes are graciously hosting this hands-on, small-batch, culinary workshop!

Whether you're looking to discover the dark art of jam making, create tangy quick-pickles, or understand gut-friendly fermenting, this  session is designed to both teach the basics, and encourage culinary creativity, and of course to get your cupboards deliciously stocked. *We may not get up to all of the above but even if we don’t there’ll be time to ask questions and get at least a basic insight into these preservation processes.

This workshop is brought to you by Baphomet's Book Club 𖤍 alongside The London School of SolarPunk 🌞

🎒 WHAT TO BRING

🥬 Rescue Round: Not essential as we’ll have plenty of stock but… bring along any foraged favourites, garden windfalls, or surplus from your kitchen or local green grocer that  you think could be preserved into something magical!

🫙Jars + Lids: Bring at least 2 large jars with lids if you can. We have a small stock of them but if you have decent ones at home then bring them along to be filled!

🔪 Equipment: Please bring an apron, and a peeler, we can provide the rest.
If you have any of the below you'd like to bring then it may come in handy…
-Your favourite kitchen knife (safely wrapped for transport)
-Food thermometer (very handy for jam and more)
-Fancy kitchen toys, if you have any, then you know what we mean!

🌱 OUR ETHOS: RESCUE & RECLAIM

As much as possible, our workshops centre around SolarPunk ideals of sustainability and equity. It is more important than ever for our communities to move toward ‘food sovereignty’, simply put, being able to feed ourselves!

We focus on using:

🍏 Windfalls & Foraged Food: Turning bruised or fallen fruit from  into rich jams and chutneys.

🥕 Rescued & Reclaimed Produce: Rescuing surplus seasonal vegetables that are perfectly delicious but overlooked. We're on the look out for partners in this area, do put us in touch!

🌾 Zero-Waste Creativity: Learning preservation techniques that honor ingredient lifecycles and reduce local food waste.

✨ WHAT TO EXPECT

⏳ Instruction will begin at 11am, but if you'd like to muck in with setting up the space then that’s a great time to chat about your particular interests!

🫙 Hands-On Kitchen Craft: Learn the fundamentals of safe preservation, pickling, and fermentation techniques step-by-step.

📦 Take Home Your Creations: Pack, season, and seal your own custom  jars on the day to enjoy at home. And leave some to go on the shelf for others to pick up during the week.

📸 Creative Visual Staging: When everything is jammed in the jar we'll stage some nice photos, and chat about how you can improve your own kitchen photos. Discover basic staging, lighting, and visual styling tips to capture your culinary creations to share online or for posterity.

🤝 Friendly Folx: Connect with fellow food lovers in a warm, collaborative, and friendly space.

🌈 INCLUSION & ACCESSIBILITY

We are dedicated to creating a warm, safe, and celebrating environment for everyone—including LGBTQIA+, POC and those with physical and neurodiverse needs. We expect all attendees to help uphold this space. If you ever have questions or need support, just reach out—we’re all learning, sharing, and growing together!
