Have you ever performed or wanted to perform and felt like the fear paralyzes you? Or has the fear stopped you from performing altogether? Do you have a burning desire to share your creative gifts with others, without fear, and fully embody your power?

Join us on a journey of embodiment and expression to regain the power of your inner artist and share your gifts with confidence.

✨Unlock the potential of your voice to affect and move your audience. Build your confidence as you are witnessed emerging in your true power.

✨Discover the power of simply being in your body and how to effectively choose how you impact the space

✨Learn to invite your audience into your world, allowing them to not just witness but to be active co-creators of the energy of your performance.

In this workshop we will open space for emerging artists to develop confidence in their performing skills by coaching you with strategies that can release the blockages that are holding back your confidence.

Whether it is spoken word, a song, a dance, a monologue or a piece of performance art, you will have the opportunity to share your craft with others in a safe and contained space, where making mistakes is welcomed. This is your rehearsal for the real show.

You will be given a set of tools and techniques to embody confidence, inner trust, and ownership of your artistic expression. We will be exploring physical embodiment, vocal power and clarity, as well as the subtleties of attention, awareness and being seen. You will have space to perform a piece of your choice and receive feedback and guidance from peers and facilitators.

Structure of the workshop:

Part 1: Tool Kit of Skills

  • Warm up games to practice different ways of authentic expression; tuning into feelings and impulses as the driver for communication.
  • Embodiment skills - working with energy centres and movement, we discover through felt experience and the opportunity to witness each other, the profound shift that comes with bringing conscious attention to to the driving forces within us and clear intention to our practice. This begins with the very basics of how we fully inhabit our body and what happens when we enter into a space (on onto a stage).
  • Voice activation and attuned expression - Using tried and tested exercises, we learn to reach and 'move' others with using our voice without either holding back or trying to 'push'. We work in pairs and as a group to find the 'sweet spot' of vocal expression.
  • Attention and Connection - We feel what it is to meet an audience and discover what it can be to have and intimate and felt connection with and audience, and how to apply that in various settings; from small groups to large crowds

Part 2: Individual Sharing and Workshopping

  • Each participant will have dedicated time to share their piece with the group, with the invitation to apply any of the skills we have practiced. There will be feedback from the group as well as guidance and prompts from the facilitators to build on what has been learned and to hone your piece with specificity. We'll be using the frameworks of Body, Voice and Attention to give the support which is most relevant to your unique work.

Space is limited to 12 participants to ensure a safe container and enough time for each participant. Please make sure you have completed the application form before booking. Go to this link to apply.

Your facilitators:

Yhonet Garcia is a singer, song-channeller, poet, actress and creative coach based in Bristol. She has been dedicated to music for the past ten years, developing her craft mainly through self-exposure by sharing her gift at festivals, ceremonies, local events, and her own concerts in Bristol. This has allowed her to release the blockages that were holding her back from embodying her full artistic expression. Thanks to these experiences, she has an array of tools she can offer to others to find and express the power of their voices through any artform.  She studied Creative Arts Therapies which qualifies her to facilitate the therapeutic arts to improve wellbeing and mental health. She also has an MA in Creative Writing, and a Diploma in Music and Drama. Yhonet sings in various plant medicine ceremonies and channels sacred songs in her soul’s language that provide energetic clearing and brings harmony into the heart.
