In an evening of wonder and delight James Richardson, of Angel Heart Theatre, will take you into his knowledge of Dartmoor, gathered over 46 years, since he moved to a lone hamlet on the edge of the Moor in 1979 as a 12 year old boy.
Journeying from teenage encounters with some of the last locals to hail from that by-gone era: through his working life as a tree-planter and dry-stone waller in the depths of winter: to a more recent five-day adventure to discover what lies at the heart of its three ancient oak woodlands, James will share his passion for a land he has long since regarded as his spiritual home.
Offering his observations and memories through spoken-word readings, haiku verse, a collection of curious finds and two colourful puppet characters James welcomes you to join him at the Field System gallery.
A professional puppeteer and performer since 1999 James is also the co-author of The High Oak and This Ragged Edge, two books documenting artistic responses to both moor and sea. He is currently writing a collection of short stories set on Dartmoor.
