Paper & Prints: Paper dyeing & Eco-printing

Part 3 in a series of 4 evening Colour Lab workshops

Learn how to dye paper with natural colour and make botanical contact prints using leaves and flowers.

In this workshop, you'll make a natural colour vat from flowers or food waste to dye paper rich, bright colours and make your own set of botanical contact prints with plants foraged from the land. You'll learn how to mordant paper to achieve brighter, longer-lasting colours (a method that can also be applied to certain fabrics) and explore which plants are more effective for eco-printing.

We'll also look at examples of creative projects that your papers and prints can be used for once dry, including bookbinding and collage, giving you some inspiration for January craft sessions.

You'll go home with: a set of dyed paper samples and your own eco-printed booklet.

Open to anyone aged 18+. This workshop builds on skills and materials developed in workshops 1 and 2, but is open to those joining for the first time - no previous experience required. Materials and refreshments provided.

This workshop is Part 3 in a series of 4 evening Colour Lab workshops, running the second Wednesday of each month, November–February, 6-8:30pm, at School Farm, Totnes.

You can come to any of the sessions as a stand-alone workshop or join all 4 for a full course in learning how to make inks, paints, pigments & paper dyes from plants, minerals & waste products.
