Relational Reflections Across Plural Worlds
An Embodied Exploration of Languages, Geographies, Identities and More-than-Human Relations
How many worlds can exist within one body? And what happens when these worlds encounter one another?
We are shaped by the places we inhabit, the languages we speak, the histories we inherit, and the relationships we form. Our bodies are not singular or fixed territories; they are living spaces where different geographies, cultural memories, identities, experiences and ways of knowing meet, overlap and transform one another.
Relational Reflections Across Plural Worlds is an exploratory movement workshop that invites us to investigate these multiple worlds within and around us, and to encounter ways of being that may be unfamiliar, unexpected or beyond our habitual understanding.
How do the languages we speak, the places we have lived in, and the identities we inhabit influence the ways we sense, move and relate? What happens when we encounter perspectives, bodies and experiences different from our own? How might we develop relationships with the more-than-human world without placing ourselves at its centre?
Through creative movement, sensory exploration, guided improvisation, imagination and embodied reflection, we will explore the spaces between familiarity and uncertainty, self and other, human and more-than-human.
Drawing inspiration from Creative Movement, Skinner Releasing Technique, BrainDance, experimental dance and ecosomatic practices, the workshop offers different movement experiences that invite participants to soften habitual patterns, expand sensory awareness, follow unexpected impulses and explore new possibilities of relating.
Rather than seeking sameness, fixed identities or a shared understanding, we will make space for difference, multiplicity, curiosity and coexistence. We will consider how we might remain in relation without needing to fully understand, define or become like one another.
This is an invitation to move across worlds, listen beyond familiar boundaries, and discover new ways of being in relation — within ourselves, with one another and with the living world around us.
No previous dance experience is required. There is no choreography to learn or particular way of moving to achieve. The workshop welcomes different bodies, experiences, cultural backgrounds and movement possibilities.
