About the event

We invite you for a weekend of getting hands-on with food processing techniques that will convert basic ingredients into delicious daily meals, fabulous feasts and cheeky snacks.

In the kitchen we embrace the challenge to create food which doesn't cost the earth, ecologically or economically, while being delicious and nutritious. We share practical time and money saving tips and cooking processes beyond heat, such as fermenting, bread making, soaking, milking, sprouting and using pressure.

Come play, get messy, get curious, and walk away with skills and confidence to make your kitchen more alive, nourishing, fun and easy to manage. Through conversation, practical tips, kitchen demonstrations and creative exploration.

MEET THE CHEF/ COOKS

Whether you want to improve your packed lunch or deliver a feast for 400 people the Kitchen Alchemy experience will provide a mix of skills and insights to enrich your cooking. Here is a glimpse at the team

Kiarash  - “What does it mean to permaculture your kitchen? I will be guiding us to cook  a meal with what is ‘available’ this is both the raw ingredients, tools, time and our own passion, skills and heritage. I have a rich Iranian heritage which  constantly inspires my flavours. Our deeply resourceful zero-waste kitchen will be part of the inspiration for our fun, nourishing and flavoursome dishes.”

Kiarash runs Waking Leaf cooking for retreats, many festivals including Medicine Festival.

Hannah - “I treat the kitchen as a creative playground—preserving, fermenting, foraging. I’m guided by seasons, hands-on processes, and the quiet joy of feeding others. My passion grows from seasonal rhythms, and a love of reinventing leftovers and “dead-end goods.” I will share ways to preserve vegetables to make them shelf stable, packed with many microbes and the flexibility to pick and mix flavours. ”

Hannah is part of the cooking team at Three Pools and loves to process the seasonal fruits, forage, nuts and offal from the land as they appear.

David- “I love the simplicity of bread. It can be such a great part of a meal a snack, but not all bread is equal. From flat to fluffy, quick rise to 4-day sourdough we will explore different forms of bread and the the different ingredients that can be sourced and used to change how it nourishes our bodies and the fields the ingredients are grown in. ”

David is about remaining embodied and connected while cooking.

“Open your pantry, find your dry old beans, let's bring them to life. We will taste and play with soaking, sprouting, milking  and blending pulses and grains to create affordable and nourishing meals. ”

Amy has been guiding community kitchens for 10 years. From a child-lead restaurant, to an off-grid feast for 250 people. She is responsive, resourceful, flexible in the kitchen, joyfully involving others in cooking up a big feast.

CREATIVE SLEEPOVERS

A series of cosy gatherings hosted by us, Amy Cooper and Hannah Kempe, resident artists, crafters, cooks and farmers of Three Pools Farm. We bonded over our lively creative practices and our love of hosting people to share, be inspired and learn together.
