We have a real treat lined up for you at Rock Meadow — an evening of storytelling (7-9pm) for adults packed with wonder, laughter and wild enchantment, and for those of you with little ones, Jan and Marcus will also be holding a matinee earlier in the day for children (2-3pm)

Internationally acclaimed storyteller Jan Blake brings her rich, rhythmic tales drawn from African and Caribbean traditions, full of passion, wisdom, and fire. One of Jan’s most recent projects has been telling stories and presenting the BBC’s Musical Storyland alongside the BBC Philamonic Orchestra, which some of you may have seen her bring live to this year’s Hay Festival. She is one of the most sought after storytellers in the UK and can be found headlining festivals around the globe.

She’s joined by Marcus Pibworth, a Herefordshire based storyteller who delights in spinning tales that are playful, heartfelt, and full of wonder.  Through years of listening and telling, Marcus has built a rich tapestry of stories, offering each one with warmth, joy and genuine curiosity, that will bring tears of sadness and laughter in equal measure. Marcus is known for his engaging storytelling events, such as the Grey Wolf Story Cafe, and his work with 'Stories For Men' and Mythic Fathers, which uses storytelling to explore masculinity and mental health, and he is half the brains behind the Rock Meadow Project, with his wife Maria.

All this will take place around the fireside at  the beautiful Rock Meadow, a 10 acre storytelling and nature restoration project nestled into the foothills of the Black Mountains in rural Herefordshire.

Expect connection, laughter, truth-telling and magic — where ancient meets modern, and stories speak straight to the heart.

Children's Matinee 2- 3pm

Jan and Marcus will be putting on a special matinee for children early afternoon. Please feel to arrive any time from 1pm, have a wander and bring a picnic with you. Please book a ticket for each child. We ask for the accompanying grown-up to give a donation on the door of up to £10 - we aim to hold the telling around the fire outdoors, however, if the weather calls us into the yurt, then due to space, it will be limited to one grown-up per child. (Age 4+)

Coming from far away and need a place to stay?

Rock Meadow is in very rural location, so having your own transport is essential - if you would like to bring a tent to stay the night, please contact Marcus (storyteller@marcuspibworth.com) and he will provide you with details for that.

Jan and Marcus look forward to welcoming you to Rock Meadow!
