Three modules. One embodied journey.

Somatics → Floorwork → Contact Improvisation.

Lean_in residency - MOVEMENT TRAINING IN ARAMBOL, GOA

A three-module embodied movement journey with Josh, Adi & Eréndira

Lean In Residency, is a spacious, supportive training designed to help you reconnect with your body, your movement practice, and the joy of exploring physicality in a conscious, grounded way. Across three standalone modules, we move from somatic listening to floorwork, and finally into contact improvisation and integrated jam practice.

You’re welcome to join just one module, choose two, or come for the full three-week arc. Each module can stand alone, but together they create a layered, holistic journey.

 WHAT THE RESIDENCY OFFERS

Lean In Residency balances structure with space - giving you tools, time, and permission to explore movement in a way that feels honest and sustainable.

We’ll explore:

- Somatic tools for grounding, awareness, and sustainable physicality
- Release-based approaches to moving with less effort and more clarity
- Contemporary floorwork: finding pathways through rolling, spiralling, falling, and rising
- Contact improvisation principles: tone, weight, direction, listening, shared momentum
- Integration practice: how to bring these tools into a spacious, responsive jam environment
- A culture rooted in care, consent, curiosity, and supportive group dynamics

Each module deepens the last, but newcomers are welcome to join any week that calls to them.

 WHO IS THE RESIDENCY FOR?

Lean In Residency is for movers who have *some* prior experience in embodied practice — whether that’s contemporary dance, floorwork, CI, somatics, yoga, or any kind of curious physical exploration. You don’t need to be advanced; you simply need to be open, willing to listen to your body, and ready to work in an environment that values sensitivity and care. It’s for people who want more than a quick workshop - those seeking a steady, layered journey where things can unfold, integrate, and make sense over time. If you’re looking to reconnect with yourself, deepen your physical awareness, or explore movement in a conscious, grounded community - you’ll fit comfortably here.

MODULE 1 - SOMATIC AWARENESS & BODY PRINCIPLES

January 4 - 7

Module 1, this is where we lay the groundwork. It’s a slower, more attuned opening - a chance to settle into your body, meet yourself honestly, and build principles that will support you through the entire residency.

In this first week, we focus on **body awareness, safety, and a culture of care**. Drawing on ideas from **counter-technique** and **Skinner Release Technique**, this module develops somatic tools that make movement clearer, lighter, and more efficient. It’s a gentle introduction to moving with more attention, ease, and organisation.

We’ll explore:

- Counter-technique principles - A brief introduction.

*direction, rebound, organisation, efficiency*

- Release-based technique - A brief introduction.

*softening, dropping weight, moving from bone support*

- Somatic listening

*breath, grounding, internal awareness*

- Body mechanics

*joint pathways, safe transitions, sustainable habits*

- Falling, sliding, rising, shifting

*finding ease instead of force*

- Culture of care & connection

*consent, communication, shared attunement*

This module is perfect if you’re looking to reconnect with your body, reset your patterns, or build a stable, grounded base before diving into more dynamic movement in later modules.

 MODULE 2 - FLOORWORK & RELEASE TECHNIQUES

January 11–14

Module 2 takes everything from Week 1 - the grounding, the somatic listening, the organisation of the body — and brings it into more physical, dynamic movement. This week is all about getting comfortable with the floor as a partner, exploring momentum, and learning to move with both clarity and ease.

We’ll look at how release-based ideas can open up new pathways: rolling, spiralling, falling, arriving, redirecting. Rather than muscling through movement, we’ll find ways to let gravity, rebound, and efficiency do a bit more of the work for us. It’s floorwork taught with softness, body-sense, and practicality.

Across the week, we’ll explore:
• Floorwork principles
rolling pathways, spirals, slides, weight shifts, transitions
• Using gravity as support
falling with clarity, rising with efficiency, moving “under” effort
• Release-based movement
letting go of excess tension, finding ease and responsiveness
• Direction, momentum & rebound
how to travel across the floor with less push and more flow
• Soft strength
supporting the body without gripping, overworking, or collapsing
• Sequencing & pathways
stringing movements together in a way that feels natural, grounded, and alive

This module is great if you want to expand your floorwork vocabulary, feel more fluid and confident on the ground, and deepen your understanding of how release and clarity can make movement both safer and more enjoyable. It’s a continued conversation between you, your body, and the floor - learning to collaborate instead of force.

MODULE 3 - CONTACT IMPROVISATION & JAM INTEGRATION

January  25–28

Module 3 brings everything together. After grounding in somatic awareness (Week 1) and building floorwork and release tools (Week 2), this final module drops us into the shared space of contact improvisation - exploring weight, listening, communication, and the subtle art of moving with another person.

The focus isn’t on tricks or big lifts, but on clarity, responsiveness, and a sense of real connection. We’ll work with ideas of direction, tone, shared balance, pathways in and out of contact, and finding grounded choices in the unknown. Then, we take these tools into jam integration - learning how to stay present, safe, and creative inside an open improvisational environment.

Across the week, we’ll explore:
• Foundational partnering tools and developing our c.i vocabulary - shared weight, tone, listening, direction, touch, pathways in and out of contact
• Comfort & clarity in connection - how to meet, leave, support, redirect, and respond sustainably
• Floorwork + CI fusion- bringing the second week’s pathways into duet work
• Safety & trust - how to move with care, awareness, and shared responsibility
• Jam-space integration - how to stay grounded, curious, and connected in open improvisation
• Partnering as communication - developing clarity rather than force, sensitivity rather than guesswork

This module is ideal if you want to feel more confident, grounded, and intentional inside contact improvisation and jam spaces. It’s playful, attentive, and rooted in the same somatic principles that guide the whole residency. The aim is not to perform or impress, but to meet each moment honestly - finding real connection through movement.
