What if the Tarot is a map of the Great Work?

For centuries, alchemists sought the ultimate transformation: the Philosopher’s Stone, the mysterious substance capable of turning base matter into gold.

But alchemy wasn't only concerned with transforming metals.

It was also concerned with transforming the self.

Join Hannah Joy Graves aka Cult Mother for an intriguing journey into the hidden relationship between Alchemy, Hermeticism and the Tarot.

Together, we'll explore the history of alchemy and its influence on the esoteric traditions that shaped many of the tarot decks we know today.

We'll journey between the macrocosm and the microcosm — the universe above and the human being below — and ask whether the Tarot itself can be understood as a map of transformation.

Could the cards represent the stages of The Great Work?

Could The Fool's journey be an alchemical journey?

And what might the Tarot have to tell us about our own process of dissolution, destruction, transformation and rebirth?

We'll explore the mysterious stages of the alchemical process:

Calcination → Dissolution → Separation → Conjunction → Putrefaction → Distillation → Coagulation

From breaking things down to putting them back together in an entirely new form.

Solve et coagula.

Dissolve what no longer serves you.
Separate the essential from the unnecessary.
Transform.
Recombine.

This class will add another fascinating layer to your understanding of the Tarot — revealing connections between the cards, Hermetic philosophy, alchemical symbolism and the eternal human desire to turn lead into gold.
