The Calderdale challenge

The Calderdale Challenge 🌿🥾

In 2027, we’ll be setting off from Hebden Bridge for a huge community charity walk through the hills, moorlands, reservoirs, woodland trails and canal paths of Calderdale.

The main challenge consists of a big loop from Hebden Bridge, taking in some of the valley’s most beautiful and wild landscapes, including Stoodley Pike, Gaddings Dam, Walsden, Gorple Clough, Bridestones, Blackshaw Head, Lumb Falls, Hardcastle Crags and Old Town, before dropping back down into Hebden Bridge and finishing with a final canal stretch through to Todmorden, ending at the famous Golden Lion.

Expect stunning views, tough climbs, hidden trails, moorland sunrises, woodland paths, canal miles, good people, shared challenges, laughter, support, and a real sense of achievement by the finish.

There will be 10 checkpoints along the route, with support crews helping walkers rehydrate, refuel and keep moving forward throughout the day. Expect water refills, snacks, sun cream, encouragement, welfare checks and motivation when it’s needed most.

Alongside the main challenge, there will also be two additional walk options:

🥾 A shorter half-route challenge of approximately 22km
🌿 A family-friendly flat canal walk for those wanting a more relaxed and accessible option

And once we reach Todmorden… we celebrate properly 🎶🍻

All routes will finish at the famous Golden Lion, where we’ll be ending the day with music, food, drinks and a community get-together to celebrate everyone who took part and helped raise money for a good cause.
