Nia

Nia uses gentle, mindful dance and martial arts based movements set to beautiful global music.

You will learn to personalise and adapt the movements to your own body by tuning into sensation - what feels good.

Format of this session

  • Relaxed welcome and introductions
  • What Nia is and how it began
  • The principles of Nia and energetic qualities
  • Intro to the 52 moves
  • We will intersperce the talking with moving our bodies so no long periods of sitting
  • A condensed classic Nia class covering the 7 cycles of Nia
  • Invitation to chat about what we experienced in the workshop.
  • Further opportunities to attend Nia classes

This session is great for complete beginners but also valuable to anyone wanting to get a better sense of Nia's depth and breadth as a movement form and have more time to connect with others.

What next?

Following on from this workshop, there will be weekly classes 6-7pm at the same venue where we build routines over 4 weeks but drop-ins are also fine as Nia choreography is designed to be easy to follow.
