Next Plant Club - Wednesday 22nd July (6-8pm)
Join Radical Plant Folk, local artist Ione Maria Rojas and Melissa Harvey (Wyseworts) for an evening series of creative exploration with plants.
Based at Radical Plant Folk’s beautiful community garden at School Farm, Dartington, these evening sessions are an opportunity to see what happens when we engage with the land as a living art studio, an ever changing outdoor space for creativity and collaboration. A space to be together, with each other, with plants and with other ecologies, to draw, write or make inspired by the land, or to work on whatever creative project you’d like to bring along.
We will open and close each session with a circle space, to meet and greet each other where we’re at, to share what we might be working on or what we’ve enjoyed, and to establish a contained space.
Though we will loosely facilitate, these are not taught sessions and you are welcome to come with an existing creative practice of your own, or the desire to (re)start one, or simply be inspired by the land and others. We will offer a few creative prompts as invitations, in case you need a bit more direction, and depending on the session there may be small demos of sharings of land-based crafts.
Last outdoor season we had people working on poetry, automatic drawing, embroidery, pigment making, botanical illustration, writing and simply laying down on the earth to watch the sky. Over the winter we met indoors and worked on collages and drawings as we sipped on herbal tea and explored how plants support us during the winter.
We’re asking for a £5 donation to cover materials costs.
