The days grow colder and darker; the trees shed their leaves, ready to hibernate for winter, yet we continue to operate as if it is still summer. When we reach the depths of winter, many of us are already running on empty, leaving us feeling depleted and more susceptible to every cough and cold doing the rounds.
We’re often taught to dread winter, to see it as something to endure. But what if we approached it differently? In Ayurveda, winter can be a beautiful opportunity to slow down, nourish ourselves deeply and replenish our reserves after the busyness of the warmer months.
In this two-hour workshop, we will be exploring how Ayurvedic wisdom can allow you to feel grounded and resilient through the colder season and bounce back faster if you do catch a dastardly bug. We’ll look at simple, practical ways to support your digestion, build your vitality and work with the season rather than against it - from the foods we eat to the rhythms we create in our everyday lives.
~
In this workshop, we’ll explore:
- Understanding winter through the Ayurvedic lens, including an introduction to the doshas and how your own constitution influences your experience of the season.
- Supporting digestion and Agni, exploring its role in Ayurvedic wellbeing and how it impacts your immunity, with practical ways to nurture it through winter.
- Eating for winter, with nourishing seasonal foods and simple Ayurvedic principles to bring into your kitchen so you feel satisfied and supported.
- Building your Ayurvedic kitchen, with a sensory exploration of the six tastes, winter spices and a live ghee-making demonstration.
- Cultivating inner resilience, with simple self-care rituals and daily rhythms you can start using straight away; plus how to enjoy the festive season without deprivation or guilt.
Expect a warm, welcoming space, plenty of practical Ayurvedic wisdom, and simple tools to take home and weave into your everyday life.
No previous knowledge of Ayurveda is needed; just come as you are.
