Community spaces across the country are opening their doors for people looking to try something new, stretch their legs or meet their neighbours. In Hebden Bridge, the Dodnaze Community Centre is holding Walk and Whittle for Mental Health, a free, relaxed day out for anyone feeling isolated, struggling with mental health or looking to learn whittling and enjoy a guided walk in nature.

Further south, Moor Imagination Centre hosts GATHER - Open House at MIC, a family-friendly gathering for all ages featuring ping pong, games, and food from its newly launched café to celebrate securing building repair funding from Historic England. Meanwhile, beginners and experienced movers alike can head to Ganger Farm Sports Park in Romsey for Yoga for Climbers, a targeted session exploring strength, mobility and breathwork to balance muscles often overlooked on the climbing wall.

Feedback report

Recent gatherings have given participants plenty to reflect on, with music, movement and conversation on offer. In Ideford near Newton Abbot, Kirtan with Elise & Charlie Premanjali brought people to a yoga and meditation barn for an evening of music and communal song, which attendees described as deeply uplifting. Meanwhile in Bristol, The Cauldron gathered people at an Easton venue for a shared creative session that left locals eager to support further community projects in the city.

Further afield in Stockholm, Chasing shadows with Ronyah welcomed attendees to an evening of personal development exercises, dance and group discussion. Participants praised the thoughtful guidance and enjoyed the movement and reflective tasks, though some suggested spending less time on lectures and talk in favour of more practical activities, clearer prompts and additional time to connect with one another.
