Local residents seeking outdoor craft and connection have two notable gatherings taking place today.

At The Woodyard near Tetbury, A Morning in Nature for Fathers offers a half-day woodland retreat for up to a dozen fathers interested in personal wellbeing and honest conversation. Attendees will spend the morning outside under cover, making small fires from flint, trying their hand at mindful wood shearing, and sharing a hearty lunch around the fire after a solo walk and group reflection.

Further south at The Henge Shop in Avebury, Avebury Drum Birthing with Toni & Bethan welcomes anyone looking to craft a frame drum and beater for wellbeing, circle gatherings, or shamanic and healing work. Overlooking the stones, makers will shape their instruments from wooden hoops and animal hides, learn drum care and tuning, and take part in guided meditation and group drumming.

Local residents have several distinctive community gatherings to look forward to across the area.

In Stroud, Paganhill Community Centre hosts the Lifehouse Stroud people's assembly: being here, together, is how we create change. Organised for anyone living in the community, the gathering offers small group discussions about how people feel about where they live and how assemblies can help neighbours collaborate and make decisions together. Over at the Stroud Valley Scouts Centre, the Winter Bazaar invites anyone interested in vocal improvisation to explore games, enquiries, and workshops, with multiple spaces set aside for simultaneous group sessions and a shared lunch.

Further afield in Elmore, near Gloucester, the Ecstatic Dance & Live Sound Bath · Elmore Court · The Cotswolds welcomes all ages, from families to solo attendees. Held in the Gillyflower building on the rewilded estate, the alcohol-free evening includes barefoot dancing to electronic and world music on a sprung floor, a sound bath using crystal singing bowls, and an optional organic dinner.
